These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month’s topic is “One Subject\, Four Ways”. It is a good practice for photographers to thoroughly explore their subjects.  Varying light\, time of day\, weather\, lens selection\, color and tones\, and mood all change the appearance of your subject.  Explore one subject and create perspectives of it. \nWe will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment. Your personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Mastering Manual Mode
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery! \nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so. \nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we’ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We’ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we’ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we’ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We’ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We’ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we’ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We’ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results? \nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week’s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- Pixels in Your Pocket: Creative Mobile Photography with Charles & Melissa Needle
DESCRIPTION:This online class will meet Wednesdays March 5th & 26th\, 7-8:30pm EST \nJoin Charles and Melissa for this 2-part online class as they walk you through how to capture\, create\, and edit images surrounding you in everyday life using nothing more than the camera that’s always with you: your smartphone! \nThis is a 2-Part Class! During the first session\, Charles and Melissa will discuss elements of shooting with your smartphone and in the second session\, they will discuss creative editing! \nIn part one\, Charles and Melissa will demonstrate how you can go beyond “point and shoot” with your phone\, including how to get the most from your native camera with all of its hidden features\, as well as a review of helpful accessories. The duo will then take a deep dive and discuss key shooting apps in a “live” demonstration format with their phones projected on the computer screen. Some of the key shooting apps they will discuss and demonstrate include: Halide Mark II – Pro Camera (Lux Optics\, Inc.)\, Average Camera Pro (Dominik Seibold) and Slow Shutter Cam (Cogitap Software). \nIn the second session\, they will focus on creative editing\, giving you the tools to unleash your creativity and transform average\, “not-quite-there” images into expressive\, painterly masterpieces. Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a 6-session photography program aimed at strengthening their interest\, improving their photography\, and getting them truly excited about being the artist\, the creator\, and the family photographer! \nOver the course of six sessions\, we will cover a wide range of topics\, from composition & perspective to depth of field & movement. In every session we’ll have a brief introduction to a topic followed by a fun practical exercise. Our goal is to get your photographers taking pictures as much as possible! At the end of each session\, we’ll give an assignment for the following week\, and at the start of the next session\, we’ll look back on the images to see what we liked about them. \nOur goal in this program is to have a lot of fun and not bog students down with too much technical stuff. However\, we will also scaffold instruction\, so if an attendee wants to know more about the technical aspects\, they still can! Please note: This course is geared towards students aged 12-16 years old. Our age requirement is general and a certain maturity level is helpful.  Younger students with interest and a level of responsibility are welcome to attend. \nStudents will be required to have some kind of camera. DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we ?step it up? and figure out what to we?re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are ?good? or ?correct?. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we?ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We?ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we?ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to ?finish? the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom!\nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as ?Adobe Lightroom CC? (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different? SUMMARY:Developing Color Film- Hunt's Photo Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we discuss all the key elements of loading and developing film\, and get you to develop a roll on your own! In this workshop\, we will show you how to load film into a developing tank\, discuss the elements of the chemistry involved\, and other various aspects. Because of the many variables\, we will only be using one specific type of developer\, but we will discuss the possibilities of other developers available and their advantages. \nPlease note: This class caters to color/C-41 type film developing only! We will also have a black and white film developing class. All film classes can be found here. \nWe will provide tanks\, reels\, chemistry\, and basically anything that you need to develop your film. All you will need to have is a roll of film to develop. \nWe will also include a free scan of your film after it has been processed! Since your film will be wet at the end of the session\, you will leave it to dry so it can be scanned. The digital scans will be sent directly to your email address. If you would like the negatives to be shipped to another store for pickup\, we can gladly do that!

These images can be created effortlessly\, but sometimes\, there may be a little more effort than you might think!\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski for a workshop involving Focus Stacking–the process of combining multiple images\, each with a different focal point\, in order to create an image with far greater depth of field in which all (or most) of the image is in focus!\nOur workshop will begin with our Intro to Focus Stacking class (Monday\, March 3rd). Your registration to this workshop will INCLUDE that class.\nOn Saturday March 8th\, we will work hands-on in the classroom creating focus stacks. We will discuss a myriad of factors\, from subject and composition to camera settings\, tripod effectiveness\, and more! About 3/4 through the workshop\, we will stop photographing and review the stacks on your computer. (While it’s great to bring your computer\, if you cannot\, you are welcome to hand the files off to us and we will demo the process in class with your images.) SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Birding Along the Space Coast
DESCRIPTION:Florida is considered by many to be a mecca of bird photography.  In addition to the abundance of birdlife in the state\, the birds are quite approachable and easy to photograph. We will explore some prime birding locations\, including the famed Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and the Orlando Wetlands.  But in addition to these bird photography locations\, there are several other lesser-known\, nearby sites where the photography is simply spectacular.  This trip will occur at a time of year when many birds will be in breeding plumage (and exhibiting some breeding behavior).  You can expect to photograph a variety of species including; egrets\, herons\, ibis\, terns\, plovers\, gallinules\, oystercatchers\, osprey\, pelicans\, wood storks\, roseate spoonbills\, ducks\, black skimmers and much more. \nWe will maximize our time in the field shooting a multitude of subjects as well as incorporating classroom instruction\, critiques\, and photographic discussion each day. \nGeneral Itinerary:\nArrive March 10. Check into hotel in by 2pm. Meet\, Greet\, Sunset Shoot\nMarch 11\, 12\, 13\, 14 – Daily excursions to birding locations dependent upon light and weather\nLeave March 15. DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so.\nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we?ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We?ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we?ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we?ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We?ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We?ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we?ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We?ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results?\nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week?s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. SUMMARY:Online: Special Guest Series- Hollywood Lighting in the Style of George Hurrell with Bobbi Lane
DESCRIPTION:George Hurrell was the greatest Hollywood Glamour photographer\, establishing the style in the early 30’s by photographing publicity images of the movie stars for MGM. Hurrell sculpted with light\, chiseling the subject’s features with bright highlights and deep shadows that created mystery and depth. He used large focusing fresnels (pronounced “fre-nel”)\, the same ones the movie studios still use today and photographed the major stars in Hollywood: Bogart\, Crawford (his favorite model)\,  Davis\, Deitrich\, Harlow\, “Bojangles”\, Gable\, Cooper\, Garbo\, Hepburn\, Tracy\, and more! From 1980 until 1992\, Hurrell rented Bobbi Lane’s studio in Los Angeles\, bringing in lighting along with furniture and props\, continuing to photograph the biggest stars of the day- Harrison Ford\, Arnold Schwarzenegger\, Diana Ross\, Queen\, the Talking Heads\, Liam Neeson\, Johnny Mathis\, Paul McCartney and many more. \nThis online seminar will cover Hurrell’s history and background as a painter and how he developed into a photographer. Bobbi will examine his techniques in lighting as well as his completing his concept of his subjects. DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! SUMMARY:Online: The Printed Vision- Printing on Rice Paper!
DESCRIPTION:The printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product. \nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing on Rice Paper! \nRice paper is a style of paper that is delicate\, unique\, and tells a story! This is a fabulous style of paper that is underutilized in the printing world but can ultimately produce stellar and very different images! \nLeading up to the date of the session\, you’ll receive a pre-recorded video that discusses\, among other things\, considerations what images to choose to print on Rice Paper\, how to best edit your images\, paper selection\, and other important elements of making a print on Rice Paper.  Attendees will independently process 1-2 images and upload them to the instructor for review. The instructor will send back a video image review discussing what you did and how to improve your edits for print. The instructor will then print images on two papers for comparison. You may choose to have the same image printed twice (recommended) or two separate images. Due to size restrictions of rice paper\, we will be limiting the size of these prints to no larger than 8.5 x 11\, although we are happy to make a larger print outside of the class for an additional fee. \nJoin us for this unique Printed Vision class! \nA Note About The Printed Vision Series \nOur Print Review Monthly is a chance to continue the print conversation over the course of many months. For this class\, you can either choose a single session OR sign up for three months at a discounted rate.  You do not need to attend 3 consecutive sessions and may attend whenever it’s convenient. DESCRIPTION:Do you have a new DSLR that you have no idea how to use? Have you had your camera for 6 months\, a year or more and want to take better pictures? Are you putting your camera away because you just don’t see the difference between your expensive camera and your smart phone? \nLearn to fully utilize your cameras potentials! Harness your creative power with photography! \nThis is one of the first classes to consider when you’re getting started with your Digital SLR or Mirrorless camera. We will discuss Exposure (how light works with the camera)\, the Big Three Settings (Aperture\, Shutter Speed\, & ISO)\, how they affect your picture and how to set them\, and what mode to set it to on your camera! We’ll discuss changing depth-of-field (controlling what’s in focus in the background\, stopping or blurring the action in your scene\, and many other basic picture-taking techniques. We recommend taking this class prior to Digital Photography Basics 2\, which is the next logical step! \nJoin us to start learning about Digital Photography! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. DESCRIPTION:Join the dynamic duo of Bobbi Lane and Lee Varis to explore the world of Hollywood glamour\, and learn the photographic style of George Hurrell. Bobbi & Lee will teach you how to achieve the look of the classic Hollywood glamour images of the 1930’s & 40’s using modern lighting tools and digital retouching techniques. Hurrell spent the last 12 years of his life shooting in Bobbi’s studio\, during which he experienced a revival of popularity for his classic style.  \nIn this workshop\, you will be learning from her first-hand experience Hurrell’s creative approach to lighting\, styling\, and posing! Hurrell “sculpted’ his subjects with large Tungsten movie lights. In today’s world\, we will use LED lights (courtesy of Nanlite) with Fresnel (pronounced “fre-nel”) and Barn Door attachments. \nThis is a fascinating and dynamic workshop with models dressed and styled in Hollywood fashion. Over two days\, we will cover lighting\, posing and directing\, and how to use this style in the modern world. \nAfter hands-on shooting\, Lee Varis will teach Lightroom and Photoshop retouching techniques that allow you to replicate Hurrell’s classic creamy B&W tones and smooth skin\, without the hours of tedious re-illustration for which he was famous. \nIncluded in this workshop is an introductory webinar on the Hollywood Lighting style to be held on Tuesday March 11th at 7pm EST. (If you can’t attend live\, it will be recorded\, but you should watch it prior to the workshop.) \n  \nAbout Bobbi Lane and Lee Varis \nBobbi Lane and Lee Varis\, accomplished photographers and educators with over 90 years of combined experience\, are excited to share their expertise in their workshops and presentations. SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic Pt 2
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class.
