SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Photographing Birds at Horn Pond
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we explore Horn Pond’s 102-acre body of water along the Aberjona River in Woburn\, Massachusetts and focus on locating and photographing the many birds that inhabit the area! Of greatest importance\, we will work on understanding and executing the appropriate settings on our cameras! We may have a chance at some hummingbirds\, as well as other birds in the area\, and we will benefit from the flowers of the season. Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!\nHorn Pond is a wonderfully scenic area\, offering many outdoor activities such as hiking and bike riding. These same trails are an excellent place to explore many types of photographic opportunities\, emphasizing nature\, landscape\, and macro. On many of our walks\, the quality of day can positively or negatively affect how our images turn out. On this walk\, we will emphasize making the best out of any situation\, whether cloudy\, sunny or rainy (well\, not too rainy). Bring your creative thoughts!\nWe recommend having both a standard zoom lens and telephoto zoom lens\, preferably one that will go to 200mm or above.\nPlease note: There will be a good amount of walking on this Photo Walk. Nothing too treacherous\, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes!

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Video Basics
DESCRIPTION:Please note: This is a 2-part class that will meet on the dates listed above\nPhotographers everywhere love that digital cameras have the capability of creating “videos”. But what important settings are there? How can I take full advantage of my camera that has 4K 60fps\, and what am I even saying when I say those words??? I just want to make a great video- what do I need to know?!\nWell\, fret no more! Video Basics is geared for photographers that want to use their camera for occasional videos! This is the class that is going to give you insight into the basic settings and why to set them; how to take full advantage of the best qualities of your camera\, and leaves a lot of the higher-end technical stuff out of the picture.\nIn this jam-packed course\, we’ll cover basic camera settings (some of which you’re used to from still photography); basic menu settings such as frame rates\, resolution\, and codecs; framing\, composition\, and cinematography basics. The goal of this course is to send you on your way much more confident about how to set up your next video.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video.\nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content!

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class.\nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills!\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Photographing Each Other
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a fun and unique portrait workshop that not only discusses portraits and how to take them effectively\, but also discusses practical posing and subject interaction. After all\, when the photographer is the model?\nThat?s right! In Photographing Each Other\, the photographers will also be acting as the models! We will take turns ?photographing each other? for the whole of this workshop. The best way to learn about how to pose and direct your subject is to be a subject yourself\, and that?s what this workshop aims to do. In the end\, attendees should have a better understanding of what makes a successful portrait\, how to execute it\, and also have some great shots of themselves!\nWe will emphasize creating portraits using available light through subject placement and composition through the aid of diffusers and reflectors\, but if you are interested in flash\, we can work with that as well.\nAs a background\, we will be utilizing the Saugus Iron Works. Its diversity and tone are an excellent location for a variety of portraits.\nPhotographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend\, but be aware: You will be photographed!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Nifty Fifty Workshop: Morning in Rockport Image Review
DESCRIPTION:Walk: Saturday July 2nd\, 7-10am ? Image Review/Critique: Thursday July 7th\, 7pm ? Online!\nAbout the Nifty Fifty Workshops\nEvery photographer at one point or another has the internal struggle before going to photograph: What lenses should I bring with me today? The common answer is as many as I can without being too uncomfortable. And so we pack up our wide\, standard\, telephoto\, prime\, and macro lenses and head out into the field\, forcing ourselves to endure limitless choices while sacrificing simplicity.\nOur Nifty Fifty workshops flip the script and force you to only carry one lens: A 50mm lens\, nostalgically referred to as a ?nifty fifty?. With limitations\, what can you? the photographer\, the creator\, the artist? achieve?\nThese workshops will start with our basic photo walk\, where we will meet in the field and work with only a 50mm lens in a specific location. Attendees will then submit a handful of images for an online image review\, to be held a few days later. During that image review\, we will be able to see others? work\, discuss how to achieve different effects\, and consider editing choices. This is an excellent workshop for all photographers?from Beginner to Advanced?because it forces you to work in a different way.\nWalk Description\nFor this workshop\, we will be photographing a morning in Rockport. Rockport is a premiere destination for photographers. The town is an eclectic mix of unique storefronts\, a beautiful harbor\, boats\, and a rich fishing tradition that offers a wide variety of photographic subjects. We will spend the morning photographing these scenes and discussing composition\, subject development\, and more! Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!\n*Question: Are other prime lenses acceptable? Olympus/Panasonic users may use a 25mm lens\, since it gives the same look as a 50mm and other primes can be used as an alternative\, but we ask that you try to keep it at one prime in as close to that range as possible. Remember- this is a ?nifty fifty? workshop\, not a ?mighty ninety? workshop. (And does that even really rhyme?)

SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- Narrow Depth of Field (on Purpose) Image Review
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation Wed June 22nd\, 7pm EST\nImage Review Wed July 6th\, 7pm EST\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the ?Walk? portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month?s topic is Narrow Depth of Field (on Purpose). We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment.\nYour personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure Printing Series
DESCRIPTION:Have you attended a recent Hunt’s Photo Adventure and want to get a print made? Do you either want to learn a little bit about the editing process or get a professional’s opinion? If the answers to these questions are “yes”\, this will be an excellent opportunity to take advantage of our Hunt’s Photo Adventure Printing Series.\nHere’s how it works: If you’ve taken a Hunt’s Photo Adventure recently\, you are welcome to sign up for the class! (There really isn’t a date limitation\, but we always encourage printing an image within a few months.) Upon signing up\, you will receive an email reading “Confirmation for Hunt’s Photo Adventure Printing Series”. In that email will be a few basic instructions\, including what images to consider\, what type of image to submit\, and where to upload the images. (We ask that images are uploaded a few days prior to class date so that we have enough time to review and print them.) We will then go through the images for review in a video recording\, discussing exposure\, cropping/composition\, print sizing\, color\, and paper options that may fit with the image. We’ll send you that review\, and upon your approval\, make the prints. We will then regroup for a full print review on the date listed above. You can attend that session live in our Melrose store location or online!\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product.\nWe hope to see you there for this fun experience!\n*Please note: The cost of this class includes the image review and printing of the image up to 13×19″. Extra prints and/or larger prints can also be produced for an additional charge.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Test Drive: Exploring Back Bay with the Leica SL2-S
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo and Leica Product Specialist\, John Kreidler\, as we explore the streets of Back Bay with the Leica SL2-S. While having a Leica Camera is not a requirement for this event\, we will have a limited supply of SL2-S cameras available on a first come\, first serve basis. A SD card\, photo ID and credit card are required to borrow a camera. Arrive early to secure one of the loaner cameras.\nThe light of the city becomes more interesting as we approach dusk. The long shadows created by the stunning architecture give us a great contrast to the low direct light and creating pockets of light for us to insert our subject. This will be a great chance to try out a unique camera in a perfect situation.\nPlease note: The cost of the Test Drive event is $25. However\, you will receive a $25 gift card to Hunt’s for attending\, so it?s a win-win!\nAbout John Kreidler: John Kreidler is the East Coast Product Specialist and co-host of Leica?s streaming Tech Talk program on YouTube. John brings more than 25 years? experience providing imaging and production insight to professional photographers and enthusiasts alike. Equal parts\, photographer\, educator\, and trainer\, John can frequently be found\, giving those interested in Leica products an opportunity to experience them in a real-life situation\, during Pro Discovery Days\, Leica Store events and Akademie workshops\, throughout the country. An accomplished photographer\, his on-going obsession with capturing light and shadow started from an early age. He strives to move beyond the beautiful snapshot and create an image that evokes emotion in the viewer?s mind. Most recently\, John?s work was selected to appear in the new book\, ?Inspiration Leica Akademie?.\n@leicaproimage

SUMMARY:Beyond the Basics- Next Steps: Understanding Manual Exposure (Part 2)- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose
DESCRIPTION:Please note: This is a 2-part class that will meet on the dates listed above\nAfter learning ?the basics? of digital photography\, become more comfortable in the world of digital photography by taking the next step.\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge! For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the “Priority Modes” (Ex. Aperture Priority) because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just one solution. For some photographers\, there is only the manual mode. But why is it important to shoot in the Manual mode? Are there reasons to use manual vs. Aperture priority and vice-versa? How can we maximize usability?\nWhile our Beginner class scratches the surface of these functions\, this Beyond the Basics class will cover in-depth:\n?Your Camera?s Light Meter and how it works\n?Use of Aperture Priority vs. Manual modes\n?Histograms\n?Photographing in RAW vs. Jpeg\nWe will also give an assignment to do outside of class in order to help strengthen your photographic abilities!\nUnderstanding the full-functionality of your camera is a necessity to improving your flexibility when photographing in a variety of situations. This course is designed to help you feel more comfortable about how to change your camera?s settings in those situations. It is recommended as a follow-up to our Beginner Photography course.

SUMMARY:Multi-Session Series\, Pt 3 of 3- Adobe Lightroom Classic- File Management & Editing- Hunt's Photo\, Melrose
DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we ?step it up? and figure out what to we?re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are ?good? or ?correct?. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we?ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We?ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we?ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to ?finish? the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom!\nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as ?Adobe Lightroom CC? (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different? This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) If you are unsure\, feel free to email us at classes@huntsphoto.com. Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. Older versions\, such as Lightroom 5 or 6\, are also acceptable\, though not all functions will be available.
