SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Experience: Photographing Demons with Bobbi Lane
DESCRIPTION:Demons live in the shadow\, not the light — your key is what you take away\, not what you add. Push into low-key territory: hard\, directional sources (a Fresnel snooted tight\, or a light raked at a brutal angle) carving the face out of near-total black. Let split lighting cut a subject in half\, one side devoured entirely by darkness. Underexpose the background until it disappears. The tension comes from concealment — a jawline suggested rather than shown\, an eye lit while the rest of the face surrenders to shadow. This is chiaroscuro at its most aggressive: contrast so steep it borders on violence\, an image that feels like something is being hidden from the viewer rather than revealed to them. \nPhotographer and Educator Bobbi Lane will discuss how to master “photographing demons” using classic techniques and modern lighting\, using Fuji cameras and Nanlite lighting. \n  \nAbout Bobbi Lane \nBobbi Lane\, a Fujifilm “X” Photographer\, is an award-winning commercial photographer specializing in creative portraits on location and in the studio. Lane’s multi-faceted approach to photography incorporates over 40 years of technical experience with innovative artistic interpretation. Her corporate and editorial work includes corporate websites and hundreds of environmental portraits for a wide variety of magazines. As a dedicated photo educator\, she brings insight and enthusiasm to her students in workshops held worldwide. She is widely known as the “Mistress of Light”\, teaching portrait lighting techniques with both natural and artificial light. Combining her love of travel\, photography and teaching\, Bobbi also leads international photo travel workshops with her husband Lee Varis\, such as Venice Carnival\, Tuscany\, Neighborhoods of New York and Scotland. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Experience: Photographing Divas with Bobbi Lane
DESCRIPTION:Divas command the light rather than hide from it — think glamour portraiture\, where a single dominant source sculpts the face with authority and glow rather than menace. Rim lighting becomes essential here: a hard edge separating the subject from the background\, giving a halo of definition that reads as star power. A fill light is more generous than with harsher work — shadows are shaped\, not erased entirely\, so skin still has dimension\, but nothing is left to devour the features. The pose and gaze do as much work as the light: the chin is lifted\, a directness or knowing half-smile that assumes the camera is lucky to be there. It’s lighting as reverence — dramatic\, but in service of magnetism rather than dread.\n \nPhotographer and Educator Bobbi Lane will discuss how to master “photographing divas” using classic techniques and modern lighting\, using Fuji cameras and Nanlite lighting. \n  \nAbout Bobbi Lane \nBobbi Lane\, a Fujifilm “X” Photographer\, is an award-winning commercial photographer specializing in creative portraits on location and in the studio. SUMMARY:Providence Show Seminar: Don’t Overthink the Process - My Street Photography Journey with Rafael Medina
DESCRIPTION:Starting your street photography journey in a small city can feel frustrating and limiting\, leading many to assume you need to be in a metropolitan area to create anything of value. Nine years of documenting Providence\, Rhode Island has taught Rafael Medina otherwise.  \nIn this presentation\, Rafael shares how photo books\, YouTube\, community and most importantly relentless practice shaped the way he documents his environment. From self published photo books and zines to exhibiting in multiple galleries and creating a street photography collective\, he will discuss his journey in hopes it can motivate you to not overthink the process and do the same.  \n\n  \nAbout Rafael Medina: \nBased in Providence\, Rhode Island\, I am a Dominican American street and event photographer documenting my community since 2017. From self-publishing my photobook Dear PVD to capturing the energy of local festivals such as Newport Jazz or Daytrill\, my work is rooted in connection to the people and places around me. As co-founder of SESSIONS\, a street photography collective that hosts monthly events and photowalks\, I help create a dedicated space for community connection and artistic growth.

She’ll walk through how she positions and directs her subjects\, makes adjustments for different faces and individuals\, and coaches expressions to get beyond the stiff\, uncomfortable look so many people associate with having their headshot taken. \nBut the process doesn’t end when the shutter clicks. Vail will also demonstrate her real-time retouching workflow using Evoto\, showing how today’s AI-powered editing tools can quickly take an image from capture to a polished\, client-ready result while maintaining a natural appearance. \nThroughout the class\, Vail will share techniques and lessons learned from years of photographing headshots\, giving attendees a practical look at the complete modern headshot workflow—from lighting and posing to expression\, capture\, and final retouching. \n\n  \nAbout Vail: \nVail Fucci\, also known as the Headshot Doctor®\, is a Newton-based headshot and event photographer\, and Westcott Ambassador. Known for her innovative approach to real-time image delivery for headshots and events\, Vail combines technical expertise with a talent for helping her subjects see themselves in a whole new light\, both literally and figuratively. \nVail specializes in creating high-end professional headshots that help people look and feel their best. Her photography has appeared in publications including Forbes\, The New York Times\, The Boston Globe\, and the New York Post. She was also featured on WCVB Channel 5’s Chronicle. \nA passionate photography educator\, Vail is a CreativeLive instructor and Imaging USA platform speaker. SUMMARY:Hunt's Show Seminars: Before you Edit- Why Filters Still Matter in Digital Photography with NiSi
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an eye-opening exploration of how neutral density and polarizing filters remain essential tools in modern photography. In this engaging presentation\, Jim Reisman from NiSi Optics USA will demonstrate how these filters help photographers master exposure\, achieve stunning long-exposure shots\, and create images with unparalleled vibrance—effects that simply can’t be replicated in post-processing.\n\nBut ND and polarizers are just the beginning. We’ll also touch on the creative impact of special effects filters\, such as Black Mist and other filters. How they can add cinematic depth\, soften highlights\, and enhance atmosphere in a way that software alone cannot achieve.\n\nWith so many filter options and mounting systems available\, choosing the right one can be overwhelming. This session will also break down the different filter systems—magnetic\, screw-in\, and square—to help you determine what best suits your photography style and workflow.\n\nWhether you’re looking to enhance landscapes\, portraits\, or cinematic visuals\, filters remain an essential tool for photographers at all levels. This presentation will provide both technical insight and creative inspiration to help you make the most of these powerful tools.\n\nAbout Jim Reisman\n\nJim Reisman is a longtime professional photographer and photography-industry executive with decades of experience. His background behind the camera\, combined with his experience in the photo industry\, has given him a deep understanding of the challenges photographers at every level face when creating better images.\n\nThroughout his career\, Jim has focused on helping photographers improve their work by understanding their equipment\, controlling light\, and making more informed creative decisions at the time of capture. For the past seven years\, he has brought that experience to NiSi Optics\, where he serves as Chief Operating Officer for North America. His presentation offers a practical photographer’s perspective on the continuing relevance of filters and how they can help today’s digital photographers create images that cannot always be duplicated in post-processing.

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture and begin to discuss a variety of masking techniques. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class.\nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills!\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video.\nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content!

In Week 1\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 2\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom! \n \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different– This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) If you are unsure\, feel free to email us at classes@huntsphoto.com. Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. Older versions\, such as Lightroom 5 or 6\, are also acceptable\, though not all functions will be available. \n \nCurious which Adobe plan to get? We recommend the 20GB Photography Plan\, detailed in the screenshot on the left. You can find it here!
