SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Great Smoky Mountain National Park
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description\nSpring time in Great Smoky Mountain National Park is a photographer?s paradise. The Smokies are renowned for their diversity of nature\, abundant plant and wildlife\, rushing streams\, and ancient mountains. The month of April reveals many beautiful aspects of Spring throughout the park as we explore and pursue a variety of subject matter. In Cades Cove\, we will explore the cultural elements of the mountain people. Along Tremont\, we will expand our creativity by photographing rushing water and quiet landscapes. Throughout the park there is an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife to enjoy. From the top of Clingman?s Dome\, we will capture mountain vista?s that are breathtaking. Each day\, we will work on concepts of Subject Development\, Exposure\, Image Composition\, Architectural Photography\, Black and White Photography\, Low Light Photography\, and Long Exposures. There is nothing quite like the Great Smoky Mountains.\nWe will maximize our time in the field with hands on instruction as well as incorporating group discussion\, classroom instruction\, and image review during the workshop. Once on location\, we will utilize local transportation to and from each destination.\nWhat?s included:\n?Daily excursions in and around locations in Great Smoky Mountain National Park\n?In-field instruction at each location\n?Image Discussion and Review\nWhat?s?not?included:\n?Air fare and transportation to Gatlinburg\, TN\n?Cost of hotel (We will be staying at the Black Bear Inn in Gatlinburg 865-436-5656)\n?Cost of food\n?Travel insurance (which is highly recommended for all travelers)\nA Note About Traveling to Gatlinburg: It is recommended to fly into McGhee-Tyson airport in Knoxville. From there\, you will need to rent a car to get to Gatlinburg\, about an hour drive away. In the weeks leading up to this adventure\, we will try to connect attendees that may be arriving at similar times in order to share rides through car rental.\nThere is also a paid shuttle you can take from Knoxville to Gatlinburg as well.\nSkill Sets: All Levels of Photographers are Welcome\nPhysical Activity: Medium to High. There will be long days that include sunrise and sunset on the same day. There will be a fair amount of walking and at least one longer than usual hike.\nIn this workshop we will cover:\n? Exposure\n? Composition\n? Metering\n? Use of Lenses\n? Use of Light Modifiers\n? Subject Development\n? Creative Thinking\n? Shooting in Low Light\n? Long Exposures\n? Use of Filters (polarizers and ND)\n? Image Processing\n? Image Review\n? Image Critiquing\nRecommended gear:\nCamera\, memory cards\, batteries\nA variety of lenses Wide angle\, standard\, and\, of course\, telephoto and super-telephoto zoom lenses (If you are looking for a lens to rent\, you can rent it from us at?rentals.huntsphoto.com!)\nTripod\nCable release\nPolarizers and Neutral Density filters if you have them\nTravel information\nPlease be aware that you will need transportation to and from Gatlinburg and to the hotel. One should plan for flight arrival between 12 and 2pm. We recommend flying into McGhee-Tyson airport (TYS). We will be completing our trip on Sunday in the mid-morning. Flights should be scheduled for early to mid-afternoon. Due to the variety of times attendees will be arriving\, we will be unable to pick up attendees from the airport\, which is about 60 minutes away\, and so a car rental will be necessary to get to Gatlinburg. In the weeks leading up to this adventure\, we will try to connect attendees that may be arriving at similar times in order to share rides through car rental.\nHotel information\nWe will be staying at the Black Bear Inn in Gatlinburg\, TN\, 865-436-5656. SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic\, Part 3
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have limited attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nEditing in Adobe Lightroom\nThis is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for this three-week course that helps answer many of these questions. What’s most important about this course is that we will give weekly editing assignments\, and we will review those edits at the start of the following week. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nIn week one\, we’ll talk about file types and adjustment ranges using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. In week two\, we’ll dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. Finally\, in week three\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including Sharpening\, HDR\, Pano stitching and more.\nEach week\, we will give an assignment and students will upload their edited photos prior to the next class. We will\, by and large\, be working with your images in the class.\nThis class is strongly recommended for anyone either looking to just get started with editing\, or to fine-tune your editing skills!\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. SUMMARY:Online: The Printed Vision- Surface Tension- Printing on Textured Papers (Print Review)
DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Thursday April 7th\, 7-8pm ? Online! \nPrinted Image Review: Thursday April 21st\, 6-8pm ? In our Hunt’s Melrose store or Online! \nAbout The Printed Vision Series\nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product\, which is the purpose behind the Printed Vision Series.\nEach Printed Vision topic will meet for two sessions. In the first session\, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure\, dynamic range and color\, but also deeper points\, such as noise reduction\, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2\, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. We will print one of the two images leading into the second session and discuss some of the challenges we face in printing them.\nYou do not need to produce a new image for this class and can go into your archives to print\, but you are welcome to go out into the field and create something new based on the topic!\nThis Month’s Printed Vision Session: Printing on Textured Papers\nTextured papers often get the raw deal in the grand scheme of printing. After all\, they are matte papers–meaning they have no reflectivity– and those tend not to be as popular as the “shiny” gloss papers. But if you like Fine-Art Printing\, Textured Matte papers create a very unique look to your print. Even the names of some of these papers–William Turner\, Albrect Durer\, German Etching– recall some of the past masters of fine art! These papers exude a 3-dimensionality through their texture and\, given the proper image and effective processing\, can create an amazing fine-art print.\nIn this session\, we will spend our time looking at what sorts of images work best on textured papers\, how to process images for the best results\, and what different surfaces are available. We’ll also discuss color management through the process of editing and also look at best practices when working with monochrome. Our instructional online presentation will be held on April 7th from 7-8pm and we will reconvene for our Printed Image Review on April 21st from 6-8pm. You will have that time period in between to photograph and/or edit your images. In the end\, you will receive TWO prints on fine art textured paper up to 13×19″. (Please note: The cost of a 13×19″ print on fine art textured paper is $40\, and you get two in this class!) If you would like prints on additional textured papers\, we are happy to do that for the additional charge.\nThe Printed Vision classes are an excellent opportunity to learn more about not only about printing\, but also the processing of images at a much more focused level. Recommended for everyone: Beginners to Advanced Photographers. Come join us for a lot of fun!\nReceiving Your Print\nAfter the class\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time.

SUMMARY:Multi-Session Series\, Pt 2 of 3- Adobe Lightroom Classic- File Management & Editing- Hunt's Photo\, Providence
DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we ?step it up? and figure out what to we?re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are ?good? or ?correct?. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we?ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We?ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we?ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to ?finish? the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom!\nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as ?Adobe Lightroom CC? (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different? This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) If you are unsure\, feel free to email us at classes@huntsphoto.com. Important: If you are taking this course\, make sure to download/update the program in advance\, as you will not be able to download the program at the store. SUMMARY:Online: Personal Vision Series- Life in Motion
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Presentation Tue Apr 19th\, 7pm EST\nImage Review Wed May 4th\, 7pm EST\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education as we help grow your knowledge\, creativity\, and artistic expression with our expanded Personal Vision Series. These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. We will give an overview on a specific topic in an online class session\, then give you time to go into the field by yourself (or with someone else\, if you choose) to complete an assignment based on that topic. We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month’s topic is Life in Motion. We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment.\nYour personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. Join us for to help grow that voice!

SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic\, Part 2
This is the class that is going to give you insight into the basic settings and why to set them; how to take full advantage of the best qualities of your camera\, and leaves a lot of the higher-end technical stuff out of the picture.\nIn this jam-packed course\, we?ll cover basic camera settings (some of which you?re used to from still photography); basic menu settings such as frame rates\, resolution\, and codecs; framing\, composition\, and cinematography basics. The goal of this course is to send you on your way much more confident about how to set up your next video.\nA clear difference:?This class is not necessarily geared toward someone that is looking to branch into filmmaking (though it couldn?t hurt). This class is geared towards the photographer that wants to make casual videos. If you are a still photographer looking to branch into video to enhance your portfolio\, our Intro to Filmmaking class is a more advanced and challenging class that will dig deeper into many of these concepts. But hey\, you can always take both classes!

SUMMARY:Multi-Session Series- Mastering Manual Mode
In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so.\nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we?ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We?ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we?ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we?ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We?ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We?ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we?ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We?ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results?\nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week?s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video.\nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content!
