SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Mastering Manual Mode (Pt 3)
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so.\nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we?ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We?ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we?ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we?ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We?ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We?ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we?ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We?ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results?\nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week?s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure! During each class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Question box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end.\n?You Are Being Recorded? (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don?t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this\, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included\, we will send it out with the link for the video.\nNo online classes should be shared and cannot be shared in a public environment\, including with camera clubs\nThe online content is the copyright of Hunt’s Photo Education and/or the Instructor. Please support our education team and instructors by not sharing this material! We appreciate your support\, and it’s thanks to that support that we are able to continue producing content!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Show Seminars: From Fear to Flash: 3 Steps to Better Lighting with Westcott
DESCRIPTION:Do you want to make photos or just take them? Have you been frustrated with your flashes or strobes? Do you have a headache when adding artificial light to a scene? Have you been stuck creatively with your photography? If you’ve always wanted to get better results with your lighting but were fearful of the process then join JC Carey as he demystifies lighting into the simplest steps possible so that anyone with a basic understanding of camera functions can start producing more dynamic images immediately. With tips and tricks that can be used with any lights you add to your creative arsenal JC will talk about the basics and dive into some more advanced concepts. In three easy steps JC will take you from Fear to flash.\nTopics covered:\nThe Simplest Most Straight forward recipe to adding artificial light to your work\nLens selection and how it relates to lighting\nTTL vs Manual\nCamera modes\nHigh Speed Sync/Rear Curtain Sync\nGetting the flash off your camera\nModifying the light\nJoseph “JC” Carey is a lifetime image maker that like so many photographers was terrified of lighting until he was gifted with a lighting class in 2007. The class wasn’t very good\, but it lit a fire. That gift changed everything. It transformed him from someone that barely took pictures of people and knew nothing about lighting into someone still trying to figure out how to light everything.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Workshop: Steam Punk in Waltham!
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a workshop where we will work specifically on environmental portraiture in a street photography setting with the most outrageous (and awesome) subjects- Steampunk! \nFounded in 2011\, the Waltham Steampunk Festival is the oldest outdoor Steampunk Festival in the country. Steampunk is an aesthetic and fashion that often mixes old-fashioned design (ex. Victorian/19th century era) with futuristic technology\, or at least futuristic from the design’s standpoint. Colorful personalities\, eccentric clothing\, boisterous jewelry\, and clever gadgetry are just some of the elements to expect from this fun day! During the annual festival\, attendees and vendors gather to show off their unique outfits and inventions.  It is a spectacular event for photographers to experience and photograph. \nOn this workshop\, we will photograph at the festival for the majority of the day\, meeting at 9:30am (prior to the start) until the end of the festival at 5pm. (If you cannot attend for the entirety\, that’s OK\, but we will be in attendance for the day!) We will work on storytelling\, environmental portraits\, and more! \nWe will then reconvene on May 20th for an image review\, where we will discuss what attendees captured and the editing process. \nAs a final note\, please consider that this event is a rain or shine event\, so we will (hopefully) be attending\, rain or shine. \nJoin us for this unique and special photo workshop!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Experience: The Joys of Focus Stacking with Lisa Cuchara and OM-System
DESCRIPTION:Focus stacking is a technique that allows you to create an image with great subject depth of field yet still retaining beautiful backgrounds. It allows you to you create images with an astounding depth of field without cluttered backgrounds by blending (i.e. stacking) several images together. Have a chance to borrow an OM SYSTEM camera and try in-camera focus stacking and/or bring the camera that you already own and manually focus bracket (and stack later in software) for awesome subject depth of field.  During focus bracketing/stacking\, each stacked individual image is focused in a different spot\, so the combined depth of field is deeper than the depth of field produced by any of the individual images. Focus stacking is not just about getting the most overall sharpness in your macro\, close-up\, flower\, insect\, product and landscape photography\, it also offers incredible selective focus. Typically focus stacking requires software\, but it can be easily done in-camera with Olympus and OM SYSTEM cameras. All digital camera photographers welcome. Setups will be provided. \nAbout Lisa Cuchara \nLisa Cuchara\, PhD\, OM SYSTEM Ambassador\, Master Craftsman (PPA)\, Master of Artistry (PPA)\, Master of Photography (M. Photog.)\, HonNEC is very passionate about photography and enjoys both being behind the lens and in the digital darkroom. She loves to photograph nature but finds many subjects equally intriguing. Lisa and her husband Tom are known for their expertise in Photography and in Photoshop\, and for their inspirational and informative photography workshops. They also lead tours in the USA and abroad for Wildside Nature Tours. Lisa has created numerous award-winning photographic images and enjoys sharing her vision\, passion\, and her knowledge! Her photographs have appeared in Adirondack Life\, Wild Bird\, Birder’s World\, in calendars\, on the cover of a fictional paperback novel\, in many galleries & exhibitions. Lisa & Tom have published two books with Amherst Media “Create Fine Art Photographs from Historic Places and Rusty Things” and “The Frog Whisperer”. They love to Teach\, Mentor\, Motivate\, and Inspire and hope that their passion and creativity will inspire you to capture beautiful photons and manipulate pixels with impact. These classes are designed to provide you time\, opportunity\, and guidance in shaping your creative photographic voice. This will cause you to be the driving force of your creativity and vision!\nThis month’s topic is “A 4-Picture Story”. We will have an instructional online presentation on the first date and will reconvene for our Image Review on the second date. You will have that time period in between to photograph and edit our assignment. Your personal creative voice is critical to your growth as a photographer and as an artist. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nLandscape Photography\nLandscape photography is one of the most easily accessible genres of photography and is enjoyed by many. In week two\, we’ll edit landscape images from start to finish using Adobe Lightroom Classic. By week three\, we’ll discuss composition\, dynamic range\, depth of field\, and focus. We’ll also discuss when to shoot in color and when to shoot in black and white. In our last week\, we’ll cover shooting and editing HDR images and panorama images in Adobe Lightroom Classic. We’ll also cover shooting landscapes at night as well as astrolandscapes. Each week\, Emily will give an assignment to hone your new skills and each student will receive individualized critiques. Emily is also available to answer any questions along the way.\nJoin us for this fun and unique multi-session series that will help you develop your skills with landscapes!\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class.
