Jackie will explain what she looks for in her subjects\, such as light\, form\, relative distances\, and interest. Jackie will discuss which lens she thinks is most appropriate and\, on certain subjects\, she will demonstrate the variations in effects achieved by using different optics. She shoots with everything from her 100mm macro to her 100-500mm telephoto zoom and an assortment of Lensbabies. You will shoot the early blooms as Jackie offers guidance and tips along the way. In addition to photographing flowers\, you will make textures in the garden to be used in post-processing.\nPart 2- Tuesday May 30th\, 6-9pm EDT ??Online!\nPost-processing: Jackie will lead a 3-hour online editing session showing everything from basic edits in Lightroom to more advanced techniques in Photoshop. She will include images from the Heritage shoot to illustrate creative possibilities.\nPart 3- Sunday June 11th\, 6pm EDT ??Online!\nImage Reviews: After some time on your own for post-processing and to apply creative techniques to your images we will have a final session to provide feedback to you. Jackie will offer her thoughts on your images with an eye toward elements such as composition\, exposure\, lighting\, impact\, and editing. She will offer you ideas you may wish to take with you on your future shoots and/or tips to tweak or vary your post-processing.\nAbout Jackie Kramer: Jackie has been photographing the natural world\, with an emphasis on flowers since high school. SUMMARY:Online: Multi-Session Series- Mastering Manual Mode (Pt 2)
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so.\nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we?ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We?ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we?ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we?ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We?ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We?ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we?ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We?ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results?\nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week?s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.\nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we ?step it up? and figure out what to we?re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are ?good? or ?correct?. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Her work has been regularly published and she successfully sells her portrait and nature photography. She has also been recognized as a Click Pro Master. Today\, Martina lives in the beautiful Boston Hills of Western New York with her family\, where she operates a photography studio and travels all over America for her nature work. \n\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. The majority of the class–90 minutes to 2 hours– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Filter Workshop: Using Filters in the Field
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a morning of learning what filters we want to use in photography\, how to use them\, and then go out into the field to get some hands-on practice!\nWe will begin in our Hunt’s Photo Manchester classroom to learn about filters\, how to use them properly\, how to attach them to the camera\, and\, if applicable\, purchase filters. We will then travel ~22 minutes to our waterfall location to practice long exposures. (Please note: Our location is TBA. To minimize confusion\, we will let you know in the confirmation email after purchase.) There are many small falls here – wide angle\, normal zoom\, and telephoto are all recommended. UV\, Circular Polarizer (CPL)\, and Neutral Density (ND) filters are all recommended. Students may choose to shoot from the banks of the river\, but the best shots will happen by walking along some rocks. Waterproof boots are your friend!\nWhether you’ve used filters and still have questions\, you’ve never used filters\, or you need a little inspiration\, this is a great opportunity to have some fun with filters!

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: Bodie Ghost Town
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description\nBodie was one of the biggest and ?bad-dest? of California?s gold mining boom-towns in the last century. Thirty-five million dollars worth of gold and silver was discovered in Bodie?s mines between 1877 and 1888. Stagecoaches arrived daily and the town?s population quickly swelled. But? the boom years were few. By 1890 the mines were shutting down. It was determined that over a hundred million dollars (in 1890 value) in gold was taken from the mines of Bodie. Major fires\, the worst in 1932\, destroyed most of the town. By 1940\, everyone was gone. Today Bodie is a ghost of its former glory. It is the largest and best-preserved gold mining ghost town in California. In 1964\, it was purchased by California and declared a State Historical park.\nWinters can be brutally cold in Bodie. At 8\,375 feet\, the wind can pile up snow drifts 20? deep and temperatures can drop to -20? F. In the museum\, there are records of citizens who never made it back from a mid-winter trip to the backyard outhouse.\nWe will photograph in the following locations:\n?Bodie Angel in the cemetery\n?Boone General Store window\n?Dodge truck by general store\n?IOOF Hall & Miners\n?Union Hall\n?Bodie Bank on north end of town\n?Cemetery\n?Cain house\n?Sawmill behind Cain house\n?Methodist church\n?Morgue front window\n?Mining equipment & machinery by parking lot\n?School House on Green St\n?The Mill from doorways on north end of town\n?Swazey Hotel south side\n?Fire Station\n?County Barn on south end of Main St.\n?Houses at Wood & Green (east end of Green St.)\n?County Barn interior\n?Panoramic from parking lot hilltop\n?Wheaton & Hollis Hotel on Main St. & Green St.\n?Panoramic from cemetery\nWhat?s included in the workshop:\n? We will be making a bulk pickup of attendees at the airport at noon. It is a 6-hour drive from ONT to Bridgeport\, CA. If you choose to arrive early or stay late\, you will need to rent a vehicle at ONT to provide your own transportation.\nHotel information\nWe will be lodging at The Virginia Creek Settlement–(760) 932-7780– near Bishop\, CA.  A block of rooms have been reserved\, but you will need to call to make your own reservation and payment.\nAbout Weather\nWeather can change rapidly (as with any mountain region)\, so preparedness is the key. Layering is your best friend. Mornings can be in the 40’s.  Be prepared with gloves\, hats\, and scarves\, and a warm jacket. The afternoons can warm up into the 60’s.\nPayments\nA deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. The remaining balance is due 90-days prior to the workshop. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.

DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for our new Multi-Session Series. In our Multi-Session Series\, we will meet over the course of a number of weeks\, generally at the same time each week. During that time\, we will discuss a specific element of a topic and end the session by giving a photographic assignment. That assignment will be due for completion before the next class meeting\, and we will review those images at the start of the next session. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions\, don’t worry! They will be recorded and you will be able to watch them at your leisure!\nOur Multi-Session Series is designed to “keep the conversation going” by engaging with our attendees in a more personal way. In each of these classes\, we will have 10-15 attendees and provide direct feedback on images. We encourage photographers of all skill levels to consider these classes\, as they will build upon your experience and provide an excellent chance to work on your imagery!\nMastering Manual Mode\nLearning about photography can be a real challenge. There are so many pieces to the puzzle of photography\, some of which use confusing terminology. For this reason\, we often start newcomers off using the Priority Modes because it’s “easier”. In reality\, these priority modes are just a short-term solution. It’s important to fully understand the “why” and “how” of your camera settings\, and learning to master manual is an excellent way to do so.\nThis Multi-Session Series will focus on Mastering Manual Mode. In week 1\, we?ll cover the technical side of aperture\, shutter\, and ISO. We?ll also discuss metering modes\, reading your meter\, and understanding histograms. In week 2\, we?ll learn to control depth of field\, focusing\, and how lens choice affects aperture choice. By week 3\, we?ll discuss how to use shutter speed effectively to either blur your motion or freeze your action. We?ll talk about shooting at night and in low light. We?ll also talk about ISO and how it controls image noise. In week 4\, we?ll put everything together by discussing dynamic range\, white balance\, and how to get the correct exposure in camera every time. We?ll also answer the most important question of all: which change should I make to achieve my desired results?\nEach week Emily will give an assignment to help further the topics covered in that week?s class. Students are encouraged to send in assignments that will be individually critiqued by Emily each week. This is a great opportunity to enhance your exposure skills while getting direct feedback on your week.\nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are ?good? or ?correct?. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. In Week 3\, we?ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to ?finish? the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom!\nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now. This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as ?Adobe Lightroom CC? (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different? SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: The Longfellow Bridge and Views of Boston
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a night photo walk featuring the Longfellow Bridge. During the walk\, we will discuss many of the aspects of photographing in low-light and at night\, including exposure\, focusing\, composition\, and more. Photographers of all levels are welcome!\nThe Longfellow Bridge\, sometimes referred to as the ?salt and pepper bridge? due to the shaker-like shape of the bridge?s pillars\, connects Boston?s Beacon Hill district with Kendall Square in Cambridge. The bridge has stood for over a century\, with major upgrades and renovations only occurring in the early 2010s. In late 2018\, the bridge was enhanced with new LED lighting\, bringing stunning new views to this unique structure. On this walk\, we will spend time photographing the Longfellow Bridge and Boston from numerous angles\, making use of evening light\, civil twilight\, and night time.
