These images can be created effortlessly\, but sometimes\, there may be a little more effort than you might think!\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski for a workshop involving Focus Stacking–the process of combining multiple images\, each with a different focal point\, in order to create an image with far greater depth of field in which all (or most) of the image is in focus!\nOur workshop will begin with our Intro to Focus Stacking class (Wednesday\, July 31st). Your registration to this workshop will INCLUDE that class.\nOn Friday August 2nd\, we will work hands-on in the field creating focus stacks. We will discuss a myriad of factors\, from subject and composition to camera settings\, tripod effectiveness\, and more! Emily will give a step-by-step of the process in this primer course! \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class\, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information. \nLayout of the class\nThe class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 90 minutes– will be a presentation on the topic\, followed by a short Q&A. During the class\, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions\, but if not\, feel free to ask them at the end. \n“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)\nWe will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees\, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we ?step it up? and figure out what to we?re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are ?good? or ?correct?. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Adventure: The Bold Coast of Maine\, Lubec
DESCRIPTION:Tucked into the far northeast corner of Maine is the fishing village of Lubec. Once a thriving fishing community\, Lubec is now a quiet coastal town surrounded by the remnants of their fishing legacy and the rugged\, sprawling Bold Coast. Lubec features West Quoddy Head Lighthouse\, rustic fishing harbors\, and many photographic opportunities along the coast. If weather allows\, we will spend TWO days observing and photographing the rare Atlantic Puffin offshore on nearby Machias Seal Island. \nYour passport will be required on this workshop in order to go onto Campobello Island in New Brunswick\, Canada\, if conditions allow. \nWe will maximize our time in the field shooting a multitude of subjects as well as incorporating classroom instruction\, critiques\, and photographic assignments each day. \nWhat’s included:\n•Daily excursions in and around Lubec\n•If weather allows\, two boat trips to Machias Seal Island to photograph Puffins- only 15 Americans are allowed on the island per day!\n•In-field instruction at each location\n•Image Discussion and Review \nWhat’s not included:\n•Transportation to and from Lubec\, Maine\n•Cost of food\n•Cost of hotel (Inn on the Wharf\, 69 Johnson St\, Lubec ME\, 207-733-4400) \nSkill Sets: All Levels of Photographers are Welcome\nPhysical Activity: Low to Medium. SUMMARY:Hunt's Portrait Workshop: Urban Portraits with Natural Light (or Flash!)
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for another entry in our series of portrait workshops where we will be utilizing the natural\, urban environment to work into our portraits. Brick buildings and cityscapes will all work into our compositions as we create a more working class feel in our portraits–a very unique look. To a certain extent\, these will be environmental portraits where the environment plays a role in creating the scene. Utilizing your environment in photographs is key to creating a fun portrait shoot! We will emphasize creating these portraits using available light through subject placement and composition with the aid of diffusers and reflectors. We will then separately demonstrate reasons to add in flash.\nWe will begin photographing late afternoon in the sunlight (and shade) and work to sunset in the picturesque brick of downtown Lowell. We will be using both Westcott (FJ80\, FJ200\, FJ400) and Godox (AD200) strobes/flashes as well as Westcott diffusers\, both of which are excellent brands for creating stunning portraits.\nThis workshop will be co-taught by Hunt’s Photo Educator Paul Nelson and professional photographer Henry Marte. Both have extensive portrait experience and will take you through the full process\, from naturally lighting a subject\, to how to properly expose while using strobes\, to how to actually use the strobes themselves!\nPhotographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. \nAbout Henry Marte\nHenry is a published photographer and credited filmmaker. He specializes in various forms of photography\, including portrait\, events\, headshots\, drone\, and commercial photography. Other than attending MassArt’s Documentary Film School\, he is almost entirely self taught. He runs a small media production studio called Marte Media\, based out of Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. Some of his clients include Spartan Race\, UMass Lowell\, Phillips Academy\, Navigation Brewing Company\, and more. Originally from NYC\, he now calls Lowell\, Massachusetts his home. He enjoys New York style pizza\, walks with a camera\, and hiking to active volcanoes.

SUMMARY:Hunt's Photo Walk: Canterbury Shaker Village
DESCRIPTION:Join Hunt’s Photo Education for a photo walk at the historic Canterbury Shaker Village.\nShakers were a religious group formed in England in the 1700s from a variety of religions\, including English Quakers and Methodists. (Shakers were named based on their ecstatic dance\, initially known as “Shaking Quakers”.) Shaker communities sprouted throughout Northeastern Colonial America\, eventually heading westward. Due to the celibate nature of the communities\, the Shaker communities dwindled into the 20th century\, including the Canterbury Shaker Village\, whose last surviving members died in the early 1990s. Founded in 1965\, the Canterbury Shaker Village preserves the heritage of the Canterbury Shaker Community from the past two centuries. The settlement is complete with original Shaker buildings\, as well as the surrounding area of forests\, fields\, gardens\, nature trails\, and mill ponds.\nOn this walk\, we will photograph the outside buildings of this historic sect’s wholly simple (and simply holy) lives. We will attempt to tell the story of the Shakers through what they left behind. This will include an emphasis on Composition and discussing Black & White\, architecture\, and close-up photography. Come photograph a fascinating historical lifestyle! Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!

DESCRIPTION:About The Printed Review Monthly \nThe printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers\, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product. \nOur Print Review Monthly is a chance to continue the print conversation over the course of many months. The concept of these classes is similar to our Printed Vision Series Classes: Attendees will independently process 1-2 images and upload them to the instructor for review. The instructor will send back a video image review which will discuss how to improve the image to make it “print ready”\, including exposure\, focus\, composition\, and especially paper selection. The instructor will then print one of the images to be displayed in the Print Review\, which will take place both in-person and online\, in case you cannot attend live. In the end of each session\, you will end up with a print up to 13×19” on Fine Art paper to take home with you. (We print on Moab\, Hahnemuhle\, and Canson fine art papers.) \nFor this class\, you can either choose a single session OR sign up for three months at a discounted rate.  You do not need to attend 3 consecutive sessions and may attend whenever it’s convenient. Choosing this option is excellent to keep the printing conversation going! However\, please note that the sessions expire after one year. (If you end up not being able to attend all the sessions\, you can also exchange a session for an additional print!) \nThese sessions are excellent for anyone: \n• Someone that wants a little help with editing before they get a print \n• Someone that does print but has print-related questions \n• A person that prints often and wants to try a different paper \n• Someone with no knowledge of printing that just wants to get a print! \n  \nCome check out why printing is the best thing to do for your photography! \n  \nReceiving Your Print\nAfter the class\, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations. \nRegistering and what is needed\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to upload images for the image review\, and the link to get into the online class. DESCRIPTION:This is a great opportunity to build up your editing skills in Lightroom!\nAdobe Lightroom is the choice program for professionals and amateurs\, with ever-growing capabilities and options. However\, there are many levels to understanding in the program. How do we organize our photos? What do we do to make basic changes? Once we learn those changes\, how can we “step it up” and figure out what to we’re supposed to do? How do we make images pop? And finally\, how do we put it all together and making finishing touches to our images.\nJoin Hunt’s Photo Education for a course that helps answer many of these questions. Often\, Lightroom users struggle with the inability to determine what changes are “good” or “correct”. While those terms are subjective\, we will help you along in the editing process to see how to make determinations along the way.\nThis is a Multi-Session Class! In Week 1\, we will begin by discussing how to organize your images for quick retrieval via keywords\, ratings\, and more\, as well as giving a description on how to consider organizing your photos on your computer. Specifically\, we will cover brief computer file management\, the importance of keywords\, flagging and rating photos\, and searching metadata to find images. In Week 2\, we’ll start with the basic adjustments using Basic Development controls. More than anything\, we will be emphasizing global changes and understanding what can be done with an image in Lightroom. We’ll then dive into Color\, Curves\, Contrast & Clarity & Texture. These changes will help make your images pop. In Week 3\, we’ll discuss advanced editing\, including local adjustments\, such as radial and graduated filters\, and how to “finish” the image- sharpening\, noise reduction\, and more.\nIn-between each session\, we will give assignments to help you become more proficient and grasp the material! This class is strongly recommended for anyone looking to further their skills with Lightroom! \n \nAn important note about this course! There are now a few different versions of Adobe Lightroom right now.This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. The other version of Lightroom\, commonly known as “Adobe Lightroom CC” (yes\, we understand you may be confused by this) is a more mobile and cloud-based program. The look and feel of the program is completely different– This course is specifically on Adobe Lightroom Classic. (See graphic on the right.) We will reconvene a few days later for an online image review to discuss elements of your images.\nThe Personal Vision Series is a crossroads of many different ideas that we offer with Hunt’s Photo Education: Topic-based instruction/classes\, Photo Walks\, & Image Reviews. However\, unlike a Photo Walk where we will all take a certain direction\, for the “Walk” portion\, you will be asked to journey out on your own to photograph.
