Instructor (S. Portland): Rick Berk
Class Level: Beyond Basic
After learning “the basics” of digital photography, become more comfortable in the world of digital photography by taking the next step.
Accuracy in Exposure—the quantity of light—is of paramount importance in photography. One of the keys to maximizing image quality is understanding and executing the best exposure in your camera. This class makes sure that your whites are white and your blacks are black. Beyond the Basics: Fine-Tuning Exposure elaborates on how to read the scene you are photographing, what and how to set it on your camera, and how to obtain the best possible image by emphasizing exposure. While our Beginner class scratches the surface of these functions, our Beyond the Basics class goes over in-depth:
-Photographing in RAW vs. Jpeg
-Use of Aperture Priority vs. Manual modes
-Your Camera’s Light Meter and how it works
-Basics of Editing
Understanding the full-functionality of your camera is a necessity to improving your flexibility when photographing in a variety of situations. This course is designed to help you feel more comfortable about how to change your camera’s settings in those situations. It is recommended as a follow-up to our Beginner Photography course.
