Basic understanding of Aperture, Shutter, ISO & What Exposure is
Beginner Photography understanding
Instructors: Emily Hojnowski & Paul Nelson
Class Level: Beyond Basic
In response to COVID-19 and recommendations by the CDC of social distancing, Hunt’s Photo Education is presenting our new series of online classes! (Hey! We wanted to do it anyway, this just sped up the process!) These courses will be shorter (about 1 hour), online versions of many classes that we currently offer, plus a few new ones, and include Q&A at the end.
Below the course description (but before registration) will be a short explanation on how the class will run.
For generations, analog film (35mm, 120, 4×5 and more) ruled the photographic world. But since the turn of the century and the advent of the digital SLR (DSLR), the photographic world has taken a sharp turn away from film and towards digital technology. Few companies continue to make film cameras; numerous film stocks and the companies that made them have disappeared; and developers, papers, and the accompanying enlargers that utilized them have been nearly removed from the market. Was it fate that analog film would disappear entirely?
During this session, we will develop some film! We will discuss how to load film into a developing tank, discuss the elements of the chemistry involved, and other various aspects. Because of the many variables, we will only be using one specific type of developer, but we will discuss the possibilities of other developers available and their advantages.
This course is an excellent follow up to Analog Love, Pt 1- Using Film & Film Cameras.
Registering and what is needed
After you register for this class, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 48 hours prior to the class time with that same information.
Layout of the class
The class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–roughly 1 hour– will be a presentation on the topic, followed by a short Q&A. During the class, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions, but if not, feel free to ask them at the end.
“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)
We will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included, we will send it out with the link for the video.
Can’t attend the class?
If you can’t attend the class but still want to download the video, no problem: Just sign up for the class! You don’t need to attend and we will send the video and PDF link the next day!
Want to get this class after it’s been run?
If you want to purchase this or any other of the classes we have done, you can certainly do so. Just send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can send you the invoice. (We prefer having folks in our classes, but this option is available as well if you want to see it!)
