What to Bring:
  • A Macro lens will be your best lens of choice for this workshop. Remember, we have a rental department at rentals.huntsphoto.com
  • Many other options are great choices, from telephoto zoom lenses to Lensbabies
  • Make sure to bring your tripod with a quick release plate and a shutter release, if you have one.
  • Feel free to bring snacks and water
  • Bring an extra camera battery and memory cards.
  • As always, bring your enthusiasm and creative thoughts!
Recommended Prerequisites:
Anyone is welcome to attend this workshop, but it is generally recommended that attendees have a general understanding of exposure, aperture, shutter speed, and ISO for this workshop.

Certain special workshops, such as this one, are non-refundable. However, we understand that life happens, and you can receive a 50% credit towards a class in the future if you need to cancel.

For all cancellations, you must contact classes@huntsphoto.com prior to the event. If you register for a class and do not show up, your payment will be forfeited.

About the workshop
Join photographer and educator Jackie Kramer and Hunt’s Photo Education’s Emily Hojnowski in this multi-session workshop, starting in-the-field at Heritage Gardens in Sandwich, MA, then continuing the following week to a post-processing description and concluding two weeks later with an image review, both featuring Jackie!
Part 1- Friday May 26th, 10am-1pm OR 2-5pm ??Garden Macro In-the-Field at Heritage Gardens, Sandwich
Shoot in the Garden: Meet at Heritage Gardens at 10am and join Jackie in the garden and as she demonstrates how and why she selects her subjects to focus on. Jackie will explain what she looks for in her subjects, such as light, form, relative distances, and interest. Jackie will discuss which lens she thinks is most appropriate and, on certain subjects, she will demonstrate the variations in effects achieved by using different optics. She shoots with everything from her 100mm macro to her 100-500mm telephoto zoom and an assortment of Lensbabies. You will shoot the early blooms as Jackie offers guidance and tips along the way. In addition to photographing flowers, you will make textures in the garden to be used in post-processing.
Part 2- Tuesday May 30th, 6-9pm EDT ??Online!
Post-processing: Jackie will lead a 3-hour online editing session showing everything from basic edits in Lightroom to more advanced techniques in Photoshop. She will include images from the Heritage shoot to illustrate creative possibilities.
Part 3- Sunday June 11th, 6pm EDT ??Online!
Image Reviews: After some time on your own for post-processing and to apply creative techniques to your images we will have a final session to provide feedback to you. Jackie will offer her thoughts on your images with an eye toward elements such as composition, exposure, lighting, impact, and editing. She will offer you ideas you may wish to take with you on your future shoots and/or tips to tweak or vary your post-processing.
About Jackie Kramer: Jackie has been photographing the natural world, with an emphasis on flowers since high school. Jackie is a Lensbaby Ambassador and KelbyOne instructor who has received international acclaim for her images. Her work has been published in magazines, such as Photoshop User, Portfolio, LensWork, The Photographer Magazine, and on the cover of NANPA Expressions.
Jackie’s true passion is to encourage people to live their legacy, which she does primarily through her Facebook group, Phlorography – Artistic Floral Photography, with passionate floral photographers from around the world. She is committed to supporting other photographers and using photography as a medium to build relationships and enrich each other?s lives.
