What to Bring:

  • Your camera (digital if you could please)
  • Any lenses you want to use
  • Your Laptop with Power Cord
  • Feel free to bring snacks and water. There will be snacks on hand, but if you have any dietary restrictions please let us know
  • Bring an extra camera battery and freshly formatted memory cards
  • Anything you want to take notes with
  • As always, bring your enthusiasm and creative thoughts!
  • *We will have some Leica SL2S Bodies and Lenses available if you choose to try one out (absolutely take advantage of that opportunity!) An extra SD card will be needed if you want to use one.
Recommended Prerequisites:
Having a basic understanding of photography, camera settings, and being familiar with your camera is important. Students must be able to operate their camera?s menu navigation and button system on their own. Knowledge of photography basics & understanding of the exposure triangle required. Students do not need any prior lighting experience
Misc:

Lighting Iconography is the first day of our weekend workshops with Jeremy Saffer. Saturday is “Get the LED Out” featuring all LED lighting; Sunday is “Totally Tubular” featuring all Tube Lighting. If you would like to sign up for all three days at a discounted rate, make sure to choose the Three Day Option!
If you are sick or feeling unwell, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future workshop. Also, please note: We are requiring that ANY ATTENDEE with a cough MUST wear a mask for the health and safety of the attendees, instructors, and models.

Video Recording is not permitted but taking BTS photos are fine

Refund Policy – Special Workshop

Certain special workshops, such as this one, are non-refundable. However, we understand that life happens, and you can receive a 50% credit towards a class in the future if you need to cancel.

For all cancellations, you must contact classes@huntsphoto.com prior to the event. If you register for a class and do not show up, your payment will be forfeited.

Go behind the lens, lights, and mind of twenty-year rock and celebrity portrait photographer Jeremy Saffer and get a glimpse into the world of music, celebrity, and entertainment photography using Strobe lighting.
Students will get the unique opportunity to not only learn everything Jeremy has to teach about using strobe lighting in a variety of different set ups, but will also a chance to apply everything they?ve learned during hands on demos and photo shoots.
After having the chance to observe Jeremy?s approach to using strobes while working with a band, it will be your turn to create images. The workshop will conclude with Jeremy reviewing and giving feedback to each student of the work they have produced.
TOPICS COVERED
? Strobes vs led; Different types of strobes (battery vs pack vs self contained, etc)
? Strobe mods- Show and review of different light mods and their effects; Boxes, umbrellas, parabolic, gels, grids, etc.Color temperature theory
? Lighting examples using 1 strobe, 2 strobe, 3 strobe, 4 etc. etc.; Break down of lighting in images; BTS to final image walk throughs; Controlling your environment using lighting and camera settings
??Studio build- Visual demo of turning classroom into a working studio with a full gear set up, and a break down of the gear/equipment
??Strobe demo, passing around the strobes/sizing/controls; building the lights to set
??Camera Prep- Going over what Cameras/Lenses/Gear will be used; Prepping everyones camera to shoot strobe.

11:00 a.m. ? Visual demo of turning classroom into a working studio with a full gear set up, and a break down of the gear/equipment
11:30 a.m. ? Strobe demo, passing around the strobes/sizing/controls
12:00 p.m. ? Break / Lunch (Time may vary)
12:30 p.m. ? Pre-shoot QnA with guest/band.
1:00 p.m. ? Live Shoot: Jeremy photographs guest bands
2:30 p.m. ? Live Shoot: Students photograph guest bands
5:30 p.m. ? Wrap up/final band QnA/feedback
6:00 p.m. ? Image review
7:00 p.m. ? Wrap/QnA
8:00 p.m. ? Optional Dinner with Jeremy
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Anyone with an interest in portrait photography and lighting will gain much from this program. Music photographers looking to get into music portraiture. Any photographers who want the chance to photograph a band using professional lighting in a studio setting.
