Class Summary
May 4 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
- Bring your camera with memory cards and an extra battery, as we?ll be doing a lot of shooting.
- A macro lens is essential for this workshop. (If you are looking for a lens to rent, you can rent it from us at rentals.huntsphoto.com!)
- If you don’t have a macro lens, the next best lens would be a longer telephoto, 70-100mm.
- Macro filters or extension tubes can also be used
- For this workshop, we always recommend bringing personal items that are special to you. Props, trinkets, jewelry, flowers, or even small toys are welcome. We will also have a large collection of items, but if you have something of your own, consider bringing it. Just remember- it should be small, so don?t bring anything giant unless you want to photograph it very close-up.
- Make sure to bring your tripod with a quick release plate and a shutter release, if you have one.
- If you have signed up for the “Edit & Print” section, make sure to bring your laptop.
- Feel free to bring snacks and water
- Bring an extra camera battery and memory cards.
- As always, bring your enthusiasm and creative thoughts!

In this workshop, come work with macro photography! If you’re just starting out, learn some of the basics like aperture, shutter speed, focus, exposure, and composition! If you have a little bit of experience, you’ll have the chance to learn more advanced techniques, such as lighting, building set-ups, story telling, and fine-tuning exposure and composition. We’ll also cover how to use macro lenses and extension tubes and more!
We will be bringing lots of props to photograph, including flowers, toys, trinkets, and more. However, we find in our macro workshops that our attendees value shooting some things of their own as much if not more than what we bring. So, while we will have props, feel free to bring your own props, trinkets, and other things that may (or may not) be important to you!
Added bonus! Want to learn a bit more about the editing process? Sign up for “Edit & Print” option below and you can stay for an additional section of the afternoon where we’ll work on editing an image with the group and make a really awesome 13×19″ print! (This is an excellent way to learn about editing…and printing!)
