In this online presentation, you will learn how to approach the subject of still life in an easy and uncomplicated way. If you have ever wanted to try creating and photographing the still life subject, but you think it is too complicated or you aren’t sure where to start, then this presentation will give you lots of tips and inspiration to begin.

We will cover the following elements:

· Backgrounds and table top choices – lots of ideas for “do-it-yourself” and inexpensive alternatives to get you started.

· Lighting and small set-up spaces

· Simple Lens Choices and some recommendations for creative lenses to give your stills a special look and feel

· Props, Styling and “What about Flatlays?!”

· Post processing tips to create mood and tones

· No dedicated large studio required to make beautiful and simple stills

About Gerri Jones: Gerri started her journey with her camera in 2000 as a creative outlet. She enjoys photographing all subjects and especially the challenge of new ways to see through the creative use of Lensbaby lenses. Gerri is a Lensbaby Ambassador and has beta-tested new lenses for Lensbaby prior to their release. Some of her work can be found on Lensbaby.com.

Gerri has been a featured speaker/instructor at regional camera conferences including Mike Moats Macro Conferences, Hazel Meredith’s Creative Photography Conferences, Hunt’s Women with Vision Conference, New England Camera Club Council (NECCC) Photo Conference, and Out of Chicago Botanic/Live conferences. She presents online zoom instruction across the U.S. as well as international photo clubs.

Gerri’s images have been featured in several publications including, Nature’s Best Magazine, Erie Canal Statewide Photo Calendars, Tourism Guides, The Discover-Buffalo Niagara Calendars and several local commercial proposals. She also has reviewed several photography books for development by Focal Press Publications.

Her home is North Tonawanda (near Buffalo NY) with her husband and Basset Hound, Chester.



Registering and what is needed
After you register for this class, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.

Layout of the class
The class will begin promptly at the time listed. The majority of the class–90 minutes to 2 hours– will be a presentation on the topic, followed by a short Q&A. During the class, you are welcome to type in questions in the Chat box if you have specific questions as they are asked. We will do our best to answer those questions, but if not, feel free to ask them at the end.

“You Are Being Recorded” (And Other Note Related Items)
We will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time. In addition to this, we will generally send out a PDF of the presentation (when applicable) and handouts on the topic. If handouts and PDFs are included, we will send it out with the link for the video.
