What to Bring:
  • Your camera (digital if you could please)
  • Any lenses you want to use
  • Feel free to bring snacks and water. There will be snacks on hand, but if you have any dietary restrictions please let us know
  • Bring an extra camera battery and freshly formatted memory cards
  • Anything you want to take notes with
  • As always, bring your enthusiasm and creative thoughts!
Recommended Prerequisites:
Having a basic understanding of photography, camera settings, and being familiar with your camera is important. Students must be able to operate their camera?s menu navigation and button system on their own. Knowledge of photography basics & understanding of the exposure triangle required. Students do not need any prior lighting experience

Small Lights/Epic Portraits is the third day of our weekend workshops with Jeremy Saffer. Friday is “Totally Tubular”, featuring only tube lighting, and Saturday is “Get the LED Out”, featuring all LED Lighting. If you would like to sign up for all three days at a discounted rate, make sure to choose the Three Day Option!

If you are sick or feeling unwell, STAY HOME! We will gladly give you a credit towards a future workshop. Also, please note: We are requiring that ANY ATTENDEE with a cough MUST wear a mask for the health and safety of the attendees, instructors, and models.

Certain special workshops, such as this one, are non-refundable. However, we understand that life happens, and you can receive a 50% credit towards a class in the future if you need to cancel.

For all cancellations, you must contact classes@huntsphoto.com prior to the event. If you register for a class and do not show up, your payment will be forfeited.

Join photographer Jeremy Saffer in a workshop focused on using battery powered small and lightweight lighting for some epic portraiture. With just a few small cases, Jeremy will build to a full studio setup with 12+ lights, stands, and mods, everything needed for a wide variety of different lighting setups and options to light and capture an incredible shoot with tons of versatility.
Be it shooting in studio, traveling locally, or flying across the world, this workshop will use equipment that can easily pack up and go with you anywhere you want or need to shoot.

• Why compact lighting? Why cordless?
• Traveling as a photographer: what gear to take with you and what to leave behind?
• Cases: What cases best protect your gear?
• Packing Lite: How to maximize space when traveling
• Travel Safety: Making sure your gear arrives safely to your destination
• Travel Hacks: A few tips and tricks from a well traveled road warrior be it by air or land.
• LITE lighting: Using small source lighting for big results
• Lights: Tubes vs Cob LED lighting.
• Lighting: Mixing white balances and colors
• Light FX and APP: Using Lighting FX and App control to your advantage.

12:30 p.m. – Pre-shoot QnA with guest/band.
1:00 p.m. – Live Shoot: Jeremy photographs guest bands/models
2:30 p.m. – Live Shoot: Students photograph guest bands/models
6:00 p.m. – Wrap up/final band QnA/feedback

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Anyone with an interest in portrait photography and lighting will gain much from this program. Music photographers looking to get into music portraiture. Any photographers who want the chance to photograph a band using professional lighting in a studio setting.
