Workshop Description
In April 2024, North America will be treated with a total solar eclipse, the most spectacular kind of eclipse, where the moon perfectly obscures the sun. The path of total shadow (umbra) across the Earth’s surface is typically 30 to 50 miles wide while the path of partial shadow (penumbra) can reach over 1,000 miles wide. In this case, the eclipse will be visible from Texas to Maine, with greatest chance for visibility in the Southern section of the US.
On this unique, once-in-a-lifetime workshop, we will be discussing and instructing on how to photograph the total solar eclipse, then put our practice to the test by photographing the eclipse from an excellent (currently undisclosed*) location.
In preparation for the workshop, we will make sure you are aware of the proper gear you will need to bring, from filters to cameras and lenses to tripods and more! We will meet online about two weeks prior (TBA) to discuss more of the specifics and give you a “dry run” of the process. We will maximize our time in the field practicing our “eclipse timing” and spend the entire previous day running through the whole setup, including composition, camera settings, when to utilize filters, how to execute bracketing, and more so that you are fully prepared during the eclipse. After the eclipse, we will also have a day for post-processing, which is extremely unique to this type of photography.
For many, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Don’t miss it!

Eclipse Time Schedule (times shown in local time CDT)
Total Duration of Eclipse: 2 hour, 40 minutes, 13 seconds
Duration of full eclipse: 4 minutes, 11 seconds
Partial begins: 12:20:26 pm
Full begins: 1:38:02 pm
Maximum at: 1:40:04 pm
Full ends: 1:42:10 pm
Partial ends: 3:00:39 pm

*We will be viewing the eclipse from Texas. Because eclipse locations can become crowded, we have decided not to disclose our specific location or the hotel we will be using. We will share that information with you upon registration.
