Creating dramatic outdoor portraits doesn’t require a truck full of gear—just the right light and the confidence to use it.

Join Westcott’s JC Carey for a hands-on location lighting workshop focused on creating bold, dynamic images outdoors using just one light: the Westcott FJ250. Whether you’re shooting in harsh sun, open shade, golden hour, or after sunset, this class is designed to help you understand how to work with ambient light instead of fighting against it.

Built around JC’s proven From Fear to Flash teaching method, this workshop is designed to make off-camera lighting approachable, practical, and fun. Instead of overwhelming technical jargon or complicated setups, attendees will learn a simple, repeatable system for understanding light, building confidence, and creating stronger images on location.

This is a fully hands-on experience built for photographers of all skill levels—from those trying flash for the first time to experienced shooters looking to sharpen their outdoor lighting skills. Expect real-world shooting, creative problem solving, and a relaxed environment where questions are encouraged and experimentation is part of the process.

Bring your camera, a desire to learn, and a willingness to create.

Westcott will provide the Westcott FJ250, triggers, and modifiers—you just need to show up ready to make great images.
