Clothing & Footwear:

  • Warm layers for early mornings and evenings

  • Water Socks or Overboots for standing in water
  • Rain jacket and/or pants for wet conditions

  • Flights: Charleston International Airport (CHS)
  • Arrival: Participants must arrive by 11:00 AM on Monday, March 22, 2027, for group pickup.
  • Departure: Participants may schedule return flights no earlier than 2:00 PM on Friday, March 26, 2027.
  • Flexibility: You may arrive before or depart after the official workshop dates if needed to accommodate travel schedules. Please note that transportation outside the official group pickup and drop-off times is the participant’s responsibility.

Hotel information

The SpringHill Suites (843.572.8866) will serve as our home base for this Hunt’s Photography Adventure.
We have arranged a block of rooms under Hunt’s Photo. Participants are responsible for calling the hotel directly to make their own reservations. The group rate will also be available if you wish to arrive a day early.

Refund Policy – Adventures

For most Photo Adventures, a deposit of 25% of the total cost of the workshop is required to hold a spot. Please note: Deposits are non-refundable, but you can receive a 50% credit toward a future adventure. Within 45-days, all payments are non-transferable.
For Photo Adventures under $1,000, we may only have the total cost payment option. In this case, 25% is non-refundable.
For national adventures (excluding Alaska), final payments are due one month prior to the start of the workshop.
For international adventures (and Alaska), final payments are due 90-days prior to the start of the workshop. We strongly encourage travel insurance!

Discover the enchanting beauty of Charleston, South Carolina, during the most photogenic time of the year. This small-group photography adventure combines coastal seascapes, historic gardens, and iconic moss-draped live oaks, giving you a rare opportunity to capture the essence of the Lowcountry.

Throughout the workshop, you’ll receive hands-on guidance and tips on composition, light, and capturing the subtle beauty of the Lowcountry. Sunrise and sunset sessions are strategically scheduled to coincide with low tides for optimal beach and marsh photography.

This workshop is perfect for photographers of all levels who want to immerse themselves in the scenic, historic, and natural beauty of Charleston, while building their portfolio with diverse images ranging from intimate garden details to expansive coastal vistas.

Day 1 – Monday, March 22: Arrival & Historic Downtown Charleston

Day 2 – Tuesday, March 23: Lighthouse Sunrise & Folly Beach

Day 3 – Wednesday, March 24: Botany Bay Beach Sunrise, and Magnolia Plantation

Day 4 – Thursday, March 25: Folly Beach Jetty Sunrise & Cypress Gardens

Day 5 – Friday, March 26: Ravenel Bridge Sunrise & Departure

Physical Activity Level

Low: This workshop involves minimal hiking, but participants will spend extended periods outdoors photographing, often in cool or breezy conditions. Footing can be uneven due to the rocky and sandy terrain. Please see the Weather and Gear section for guidance on dressing appropriately for colder temperatures, early mornings, and coastal breezes.

Charleston in March – Weather Overview

  • Temperatures:
    • Highs: 60–70°F (16–21°C)
    • Lows: 40–50°F (4–10°C)
  • Conditions:
    • Early mornings and evenings can feel chilly, especially near the coast and marshes.
    • Afternoons are generally mild and comfortable, with occasional breezes.
    • Rain is possible, but March is typically drier than late spring.
    • Humidity is moderate, making it pleasant for outdoor photography.
  • Sunlight:
    • Days are lengthening, with sunrise around 7:25 AM and sunset around 7:25 PM, offering long golden hours for photography.

Payments
A deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. The remaining balance is due 45-days prior to the workshop. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.
