Lodging information
Hunt’s Photo will notify ALL hotels of attendees. Do NOT call any hotel unless you are arriving earlier or staying later than the workshop.
We will be staying at the Fairport Vancouver Airport and Tyslos Lodge.
Payments
A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. The remaining balance is due 90 days prior to the workshop. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.
Refund Policy – Adventures
For most Photo Adventures, a deposit of 25% of the total cost of the workshop is required to hold a spot. Please note: Deposits are non-refundable, but you can receive a 50% credit toward a future adventure. Within 45-days, all payments are non-transferable.
For Photo Adventures under $1,000, we may only have the total cost payment option. In this case, 25% is non-refundable.
For national adventures (excluding Alaska), final payments are due one month prior to the start of the workshop.
For international adventures (and Alaska), final payments are due 90-days prior to the start of the workshop. We strongly encourage travel insurance!

180 air miles north of Vancouver, BC, lies Chilko Lake and River. Nestled within the Pacific Coast Mountains, this fifty-mile turquoise blue lake is surrounded by ancient glaciers and raw, untouched beauty. Fed by glacial streams and clean, cold water, the Chilko River flows northeast and joins the mighty Fraser River. Chilko is a rare gem.
The Chilko area is a photographer’s paradise. Known for its stunning beauty and different species of wildlife, it offers you the perfect spot to shoot to your heart’s content. While we are out looking for Grizzly Bears, there are other wildlife shots to take, including Eagles, Osprey, ducks, geese, Mule Deer, Black Bear, and salmon. Landscapes, including the last of the fall foliage, will be available too.
Each day, we will cruise the lake and rivers by boat, looking for wildlife. These are 16-foot, open-air boats with captain’s chairs allowing for comfort and access to all creative opportunities. There will be three boats: one guide and three guests per boat. Each morning, we will be out early (after an earlier breakfast) for first light. We will return to the lodge for lunch and a break. Our second session of the day will be later in the afternoon until the last usable light.
We will have the lodge to ourselves. Each attendee (or couple) will have their own room.
Three meals a day are included. Dietary needs will be addressed as needed.
Please note: Attendees should expect to arrive on Saturday October 16th. You room will be covered for that night, but your food will not.
Itinerary
Oct 16, 2027 – Arrive Vancouver, BC. Check into Hotel (Fairport Vancouver Airport)
Oct 17, 2027 – 8:30 am. Depart for Tyslos Lodge via Charter Flight from Sky Services Building, 5360 Airport Road South, Richmond, BC. (This is the address you will want to give to the taxi driver or shuttle service.)
Oct 17 – 23, 2027 – Daily Photography Excursions, Lodging, Meals, and More at Tyslos Lodge
Oct 24 – 11:00 am Depart Puntzi Airport and Tyslos Lodge for Vancouver
Do NOT make any flights home earlier than 4pm on October 24th.
