Wildlife photography is about much more than having a long lens and a fast shutter speed—it’s about making the right decisions in the field. In this practical workshop, we’ll explore how to choose the right gear, settings, and shooting techniques for different wildlife situations. We’ll cover autofocus and subject detection, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, exposure, and how to adapt when light, movement, or backgrounds don’t cooperate. You’ll also learn strategies for finding wildlife, positioning yourself, anticipating behavior, and making the most of fleeting opportunities. Through real-world examples and images from my own field experiences, I’ll share what works, what doesn’t, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. Whether you’re photographing birds in your backyard or wildlife on your next adventure, you’ll leave with practical tools and strategies to create sharper, more intentional, and compelling images.
