Kristi Odom- Photographing North American Wildlife and the Power of Local Storytelling:
Join Nikon Ambassador Kristi Odom as she takes you on a journey to see beauty in wildlife all around the US. With a strong belief in using photography for local conservation, within her first year of moving to Colorado she had a local story published online for National Geographic about Pikas. From the wildlife of the Rockies to the birds in local parks, she will show that beauty is truly all around, and we don’t have to go far to marvel at nature. From using telephoto lenses to photograph birds in flight, to capturing macro details in dragonflies, she will show technical tips and tricks on how to get award winning images at our National and State parks. She will also explore how to find local stories and ultimately how to create change with your work.
About Kristi: Conservation photographer and Filmmaker, Kristi Odom, has worked in some of the earth’s most remote locations to help document stories that will help protect our planet’s biodiversity. She is an internationally awarded photographer, an associate fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers, a Nikon Ambassador and a motivational speaker.
She believes strongly in the power of photography to help create positive change and ultimately help protect the planet’s wildlife. Jackie Kramer- Art is a Verb
In this presentation, Jackie will share how her life was shaped by decisions – proactive and passive. How moments, events, people, knowledge, observations, health, and more contributed to choices – conscious and subconscious. She’ll share some lessons learned and how she’s found silver linings in some of life’s most trying times – all of which conspired to Jackie’s present station in life. As an artist, you go through your whole life seeing things and pondering what you can do with them, to them, and/or of them. And then you discover yourself. This “self” is what determines why we do what we do and, to that end, Jackie will talk about the why and how of her photography; about her “style,” and how she believes art, for her, is not a thing to be made but an action to undertake and a way to interact with the world.
About Jackie: Jackie has been photographing the natural world, with an emphasis on flowers since high school. Jackie leads workshops online and in person and is a Lensbaby Ambassador and KelbyOne instructor who has received international acclaim for her images. Her work has been published in magazines, such as Photoshop User, Portfolio, LensWork, The Photographer Magazine, and on the cover of NANPA Expressions.
Jackie’s true passion is to encourage people to live their legacy, which she does primarily through her Facebook group, Phlorography – Artistic Floral Photography, with thousands of passionate floral photographers from around the world. She is committed to supporting other photographers and using photography as a medium to build relationships and enrich each other’s lives.
