Class Summary

- Bring your camera with memory cards and an extra battery, as we’ll be doing a lot of shooting.
- A macro lens is essential for this workshop. (If you are looking for a lens to rent, you can rent it from us at rentals.huntsphoto.com!)
- If you don’t have a macro lens, the next best lens would be a longer telephoto, 70-100mm.
- Macro filters or extension tubes can also be used
- If there is something you would like to bring to photograph, feel free to bring it. In the past, many attendees have brought personal items–trinkets, flowers, jewelry– and such, and we encourage it. However, we will be lots of nature props to photograph for this workshop, so if you don’t bring anything, don’t worry!
- Make sure to bring your tripod with a quick release plate and a shutter release, if you have one.
- Feel free to bring snacks and water
- Bring an extra camera battery and memory cards.
- As always, bring your enthusiasm and creative thoughts!
Refund Policy – Classes / Walks / Workshops
For classes, walks, & workshops, cancellations and postponement can be made up to 48-hours prior to the scheduled time. Refunds cannot be granted for cancellations placed less than 48-hours before a class or walk, but you can receive a 75% credit toward a future class, walk, or workshop.
For all cancellations, you must contact classes@huntsphoto.com prior to the event. If you register for a class and do not show up, your payment will be forfeited..
In this hands-on workshop, OM SYSTEM ambassador Emilie Talpin and Hunt’s Photo Educator Emily Hojnowski (Emilie and Emily!) will immerse you in the world of macro photography. They will give you a brief overview of what macro photography entails. Then, we will learn to focus stack and bracket your shots to help you get better results. Throughout this workshop, they will guide you and give you tips on sharpening your skills and improving your composition. We will play with light painting, multiple exposures, and art filters to help you push your creativity. You will be surrounded by macro opportunities, from water drops to mushrooms, and you will even be able to create your own macro scene if you wish. Come to learn and push your skills!
About Emilie
Emilie Talpin is an OM SYSTEM ambassador who grew up in Chalon sur Sa?ne, France, the birthplace of Nic?phore Ni?pce and the first photograph. Despite this background, she got into photography late and, in 2018, joined a local camera club where she met a group of talented photographers and was inspired to dive deeper into the art of capturing moments in time. She attributes part of her success as a photographer to switching from heavy and cumbersome gear to a camera system that is lighter and more versatile. She bought the OMD Em1 Mark II, a wildlife and a macro lens, and has never looked back. She is particularly interested in macro photography, especially in the art of capturing water drop refraction.
