Travel information

There are numerous flight options one can make. It is easier & cheaper to fly into Sioux City SD, but it is a 6-hour drive to Rapid City. There are less options and more expensive to fly into Rapid City SD, but it will bring you right to our start location. Finally, flying to Denver, CO is possible and most likely the cheapest of all, but it is also about a 6-hour drive to Rapid City. Car rentals are available at each of those locations.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive either the day prior to the workshop or early enough on the first day of the workshop with time to drive to Rapid City, SD. Please note: Each attendee must get a rental car and travel to Rapid City. There may be an opportunity to ride share with other participants.

Hotel information

Hunt’s Photo will notify ALL hotels of attendees.  Do NOT call any hotel unless you are arriving earlier or staying later than the workshop.

We will be staying at the Grand Gateway Hotel, Rapid City, SD (605-342-8853) and Best Western Plains Hotel, Wall, SD (605-279-2145).

Payments
A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. The remaining balance is due 90 days prior to the workshop. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.

Refund Policy – Adventures

For most Photo Adventures, a deposit of 25% of the total cost of the workshop is required to hold a spot. Please note: Deposits are non-refundable, but you can receive a 50% credit toward a future adventure. Within 45-days, all payments are non-transferable.
For Photo Adventures under $1,000, we may only have the total cost payment option. In this case, 25% is non-refundable.
For national adventures (excluding Alaska), final payments are due one month prior to the start of the workshop.
For international adventures (and Alaska), final payments are due 90-days prior to the start of the workshop. We strongly encourage travel insurance!

Often overlooked as a primary destination for photography, South Dakota quietly hosts several desirable and iconic locations to explore and photograph.  Join us as we explore the mystique of the Black Hills, dramatic views of Mount Rushmore, varied wildlife of Custer State Park, and the unique landscapes of The Badlands.

Itinerary

Rapid City SD – Grand Gateway Hotel

Aug 23 – Arrive Rapid City.  Check into Grand Gateway Hotel.  3pm Meet Up for Introductions, Itinerary Discussion, and Expectations – Sunset Shoot

Aug 24-25– Full days in Black Hills, Custer State Park, and Mount Rushmore

 

Wall SD – Best Western Plains Hotel

Aug 26  – Early check out and drive to Badlands National Park

Aug 26 – Visit Wall Drug, Check into Hotel, Sunset Shoot

Aug 26 – 29 – Badlands National Park

Aug 30 – Early Departure for Flights Home

• In-field transportation is not provided. Car rental is required, but carpooling is encouraged.
