Description

The Faroe Islands Photography Workshop opens the world of the forgotten Faroes. The Faroe Islands are just a short flight from Iceland, yet they’re way off the standard traveller’s radar. Adrift in the frothing swells of the North Atlantic, this mysterious 18-piece jigsaw puzzle of islands is at once ancient and very modern. In this workshop, we will focus on the landscape of the islands along with the magnificent Atlantic puffin that nests all over the island.
On the Faroe Islands Photography Workshop, you are never more than 5km (3 miles) away from the ocean. The countryside is dominated by steep mountains, where about 80,000 sheep roam and some 2 million pairs of seabirds, including puffins, gannets and the largest colony of storm petrels in the world, soar above. The Faroe Islands are undeniably beautiful— green, rugged and wind-swept.

Your trip includes:

  • All accommodations with private bathrooms during the workshop
  • Pricing is for double occupancy. If you are traveling with someone else and want to share a room, this is for you! For single supplement, please add $1000 to the cost of your ticket.
  • All meals during the tour.
  • Guiding by Hunt’s Photo Adventure’s Don Toothaker & an Icelandic Pro Photographer
  • Image Critique & Post Processing session
  • Transportation during the workshop

Your trip does not include:

  • International Flights
  • Cancellation/Travel Insurance (Strongly recommended)
  • Alcoholic drinks
  • Gratuity for your Icelandic photographic guide
  • Other activities

Your passport will be required on this workshop.

A Little Bit About the Workshop:

This is a guideline for the workshop we need to be flexible and adjust to the weather and conditions. If places are not accessible, unsafe, or closed they will be excluded. As always when traveling we need to be mindful of nature, follow dedicated paths and other safety instructions from guides.

Day 1 – Arrival in Faroe Islands
Arrival in the Faroe Islands and check into the airport hotel, it‘s in walking distance from the airport. A welcome dinner for the group to get to know each other. We‘ll go over the itinerary and prepare for our adventure. Followed by a sunset shoot.

Days 2 – 4 – Faroe Islands Vágar
We‘ll explore the landscapes of Vágar for the next three days. Mountain views, waterfalls, lakes, old fishing villages, village of Bøur and Tindhólmur islet. We will visit to Mykines Islands, if weather permits.

Days 5 – 7 – Streymoy & Eysturoy
On day five, we will relocate to town of Gjógv. For the next three days we will explore neighboring islands, the capital Tórshavn, the southernmost town Kirkjubøur on Streymoy, ruins from Magnus Cathedral form the 1300‘s, churches, farmhouses, and, of course, plenty of beautiful landscapes.

DAY 8 – Departure
We will end the workshop at noon (12pm) at the airport, so please plan your flights accordingly.

Flight & Payment Information
• Day one and eight are dedicated to arrival and departure so people can schedule their flights accordingly on August 15th and August 22nd.
• A deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip is required upon sign-up to secure a spot. The remaining balance is due 90-days prior to the workshop. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.

Transportation to Faroe Islands: Most flights to the Faroe Islands from the United States will come through Iceland via Atlantic Airways. Again, this flight is not included in the cost of your ticket.

Accommodations:  We stay at the various hotels & guesthouses, but as close as possible to our photography locations.

Skill Sets: All Levels of Photographers are Welcome. While this is a photography workshop, non-photographers may also register, but please note that we will emphasize photographing on the workshop.
Physical Ability:  This tour is rated at medium. We will be physically active with a lot of walking and hiking, with some potential climbing.
