Join photographer Vail Fucci, known as The Headshot Doctor®, for a live look at her modern approach to creating professional headshots from start to finish.
Great headshots are about much more than camera settings. In this class, Vail will demonstrate how she combines flattering lighting, thoughtful posing, and genuine interaction to help people feel comfortable in front of the camera and create images that look confident, natural, and authentically like them.
Watch as Vail photographs headshots live using the Westcott Ice Light, demonstrating how continuous lighting can be used to quickly create polished, flattering portraits. She’ll walk through how she positions and directs her subjects, makes adjustments for different faces and individuals, and coaches expressions to get beyond the stiff, uncomfortable look so many people associate with having their headshot taken.
But the process doesn’t end when the shutter clicks. Vail will also demonstrate her real-time retouching workflow using Evoto, showing how today’s AI-powered editing tools can quickly take an image from capture to a polished, client-ready result while maintaining a natural appearance.
Throughout the class, Vail will share techniques and lessons learned from years of photographing headshots, giving attendees a practical look at the complete modern headshot workflow—from lighting and posing to expression, capture, and final retouching.

Vail Fucci, also known as the Headshot Doctor®, is a Newton-based headshot and event photographer, and Westcott Ambassador. Known for her innovative approach to real-time image delivery for headshots and events, Vail combines technical expertise with a talent for helping her subjects see themselves in a whole new light, both literally and figuratively.
Vail specializes in creating high-end professional headshots that help people look and feel their best. Her photography has appeared in publications including Forbes, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and the New York Post. She was also featured on WCVB Channel 5’s Chronicle.
A passionate photography educator, Vail is a CreativeLive instructor and Imaging USA platform speaker. She has taught classes and workshops at leading photography retailers and educational organizations, including NYC Salt, and presented live demonstrations on the expo floors of major photography industry conferences. She loves sharing her expertise in lighting, posing, and efficient photography workflows, including real-time image delivery, with a particular emphasis on creating beautiful results using lightweight, portable lighting setups.
