Friday October 18th
10-11am: Landscape and Macro: For many photographers, Landscape and Macro pictures are two of the most popular types of photography… and now they share the same class! Join Nikon’s Paul Van Allen as he takes you through an entertaining and informative look at the gear and techniques needed to get stunning results the very first time!
11am-12pm: Simple ideas for Lighting a Scene: The session will be a comprehensive hands-on look at some common lighting set-ups. It will also help the end user decide what is the best course of action in the time you have. Using the Nanlite fixtures we will look at how to accomplish simple interviews set-ups and b-roll applications.
Speaker Barry Garcia has worked in various capacities within the television industry for 25 years. Before joining Nanlite, Barry worked for Ikan Corporation as a Product Manager. He has owned his own production company and won awards for his work as a Camera Operator. He has worked for companies such as The Travel Channel, MTV, BET, Nickelodeon.
12-1pm: What’s the right lens for me? with Sigma:
This seminar is designed to assist you for lenses that can help you achieve your goals without breaking the bank.
Prime vs Zoom lenses is there a difference? Are you confused with all the different focal lengths that are available today? Come to this exciting seminar led by Marc Farb, the technical representative for Sigma.
1-2pm: Capturing Reality on the Street with Rick Gerrity:
Join Lumix Global Ambassador Rick Gerrity as he explains his thought process when photographing the streets. He will be showing you how to capture powerful images that depict the highs and lows of life on the streets. Also discussed will be camera and lens choices.
2-3pm: Capturing Great Landscape and Nature Photos with Damion Fearron from Tamron: Join Tamron photographer Damion Fearron as he takes you on a photographic & educational journey from the small world of macro photography to capturing amazing wildlife images and the magnificent landscape. Get helpful hints and learn proper techniques on how to best capture beautiful images of a variety of subject matter. Damion will cover topics such as correct camera settings, composition, and recognizing and using good light to improve your photography. Join us as we present this informative and fun seminar on capturing great nature images!
3-4pm: Sony Mirrorless Tips & Tricks: Join Sony rep Jon Helgason as he discusses tips and tricks on the Sony mirrorless lineup. His discussion will include menus, basic settings, and fancy new settings introduced in Sony’s new lineup of cameras.
4-5pm: Pro Tips on Tethered Photography: Never Tethered? New photographers and seasoned-professionals alike will benefit from this hands-on presentation where we show you what it takes to tether.
From portraits to products and everything in-between, photographers have an opportunity to open up a new world of creative ideas, workflows and styles through tethered photography.
In this session attendees will learn the benefits of tethered photography and what it takes to get started. (It’s actually quite simple!) Specifically, we will cover:
· Types of tethered photography
· Making the connection: Cameras, computers and tablets
· Capturing images – Software options and strategies
And in the process, attendees will pick up loads of tips and techniques for tethered success!
5-6pm: The Shot Before You Shoot ….. A Composition Primer!: To See or Not See …. That is the issue! Composition and visually seeing is essential to photography. Back by request, Hunt’s Photo Educator Otha Sonnie’s Updated and revised presentation, The Shot Before You Shoot, will help you to learn about composition elements, plus seeing and forming the image in the viewfinder Before You Shoot.
Saturday October 19th

Join Fuji X-Photographers and Hunt’s Photo guest instructors Bobbi Lane & Lee Varis as they discuss the Art of the Headshot!
11am-12pm: Capturing the Soul of your Subject in a Portrait with Rick Gerrity:
Lumix Global Ambassador Rick Gerrity will be sharing his technique on capturing the personality of anyone you meet to make a Portrait, no matter what they may look like.
Rick prides himself on making difficult subjects look relaxed!!

1-2pm: Discover Street Photography with Olympus : Discover why street photography has been both popular and challenging for photographers over many decades. We’ll discuss the broad definition of street photography and the many variables involved for those practicing the art. While still a challenge for many, the cameras and lenses available today possibly make this type of photography easier than ever before.
2-3pm: Tips & Tricks on the Fuji X-Series Cameras:
Join Fuji Tech Rep John Haggerty in getting a better understanding of the Fuji X-Series cameras. External controls, Menu Systems, short cuts and more will be discussed during this seminar. Bring along any questions you may have!
3-4pm: An Image Review with Lensbaby: In the morning of October 20th, Hunt’s Photo Education and Lensbaby will be leading a Photo Walk to Mt Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. Attendees will be equipped with Lensbaby lenses for the morning. After the walk, attendees will be returning to Hunt’s Photo, Melrose for an image review from 3-4pm in our classroom. Anyone is welcome to attend this image review to see both the capabilities and helpful tips from the day on Lensbaby!
4-5pm: Better Sports Photography with Your Kids: Watching your child play their sport can be fun and exciting. Shooting pictures of your child playing their sport can be difficult and frustrating! Hunt’s Photo understands how tough it is to get started making great pictures of your little super-star. To help you capture the height of the action and bag the winning shot, Hunt’s Photo invites you to our Nikon Seminar: Build a Better Sports Picture. Photographer and Instructor, Paul Van Allen, has many years of sports photography experience. Come learn the tips and tricks to make your sports pictures come alive. Join us as Paul discusses Exposure modes, ISO settings, Lens selection, Menu settings, Techniques and Tips (and much more) for getting Gold Medal pictures of your athlete! This seminar is aimed at the beginning sports photographer and will cover non-professional gear.
5-630pm: Rotolight LED Lighting: Bridging the Gap Between Stills and Video with Wes Kroninger: Wes Kroninger will discuss how Rotolight LED technology is helping photographers seamlessly bridge the gap between stills and video.
Wes will discuss the unique Rotolight features that help to not only unleash his creative potential but also allow him to work efficiently on set. If you’ve ever wondered how LED lighting can change your photography product and process you’ll want to attend this demo.
Wes Kroninger is a dedicated and experienced photographer with over 16 years of experience in still photography and video services. Wes has worked for a number of small businesses and beauty industry clients across the country, and also with large corporate and commercial clients like Home Depot, Fruit of the Loom, Russel Athletics, Vanity Fair, and AVEDA. His photographs have been featured several times across a number of different publications that include Rolling Stone, Modern Salon, American Salon, Rangefinder, Studio Photography, Long Beach Magazine, and After Capture, in addition to a wide range of trade publications.
Sunday October 20th
11am-12pm: What to Shoot When There’s Nothing to Shoot:
There are plenty of classes to teach you how to shoot. Very few classes teach you what and why to shoot. What to Shoot When There’s Nothing to Shoot will look at concepts like Self Assignments and Shooting on Spec along with Places and Objects to shoot that you may never have thought of before.
12-1pm: Getting Better Images in Sports Photography with Sigma:
Join Sigma Tech Rep Marc Farb for an informative Digital 101, Sigma style. Learn about our lineup of lenses and how to control shooting better images. Learn some of the techniques to getting better images for fast action sports and also some lens selection choices to making more impactful images. Take advantage of Marc’s knowledge and select the right lens(s) for your shooting needs and also get the real story on how to get the best use out of a tele-converter and what lenses they actually add benefit to.
1-2pm: Portrait Photography with Olympus: Join Olympus National Account Executive and former commercial photographer, Andy Bausk, as he covers simple lighting techniques and compositions that can add creativity to your portrait photography. Whether you’re just getting started or advancing your skills, there will be useful advice for everyone! This will be an informative portrait class that will help you capture everything from individual portraits to family sessions!

3-4pm: Low Light Holiday and Nighttime Event Shooting: The time is at hand…. October it’s the Lil Goblins; November the family gathering and December / January the holiday lights and festivities. Low Light Holiday Shooting uses standard photographic principles but requires slightly different techniques for consistent results. Come join Hunt’s Photo Educator Otha Sonnie’s seminar and learn about shooting those colorful lights with limited brightness and capturing those magical moments.
