275 square miles of desert, flowing dunes of gypsum sand, excellent for landscape and abstract photographers
Skill Level:
You do not need to be an expert on your camera, it is preferential that you are comfortable with the focusing and metering systems in your camera. Need assistance? We can also offer 1-1 classes leading up to the trip!

  • Wide angle, standard, telephoto, and super-telephoto lenses (If you are looking for a lens to rent, you can rent it from us at rentals.huntsphoto.com!)

  • Polarizers and Neutral Density filters if you have them

A Note About Weather (and weather gear)
On this workshop, it can/may be cold, so make sure to bring clothes to dress in layers. Pack fleece tops, base layers, neck gaiters, hats that cover your ears, gloves, warm socks, good warm boots, and a waterproof insulated jacket or vest.

Travel information
Attendees are encouraged to arrive either the day prior to the workshop or early enough on the first day of the workshop with time to drive from Albuquerque to Alamogordo. Please note: Each attendee must get a rental car and travel to Alamogordo. There may be an opportunity to ride share with other participants.

Refund / Cancellation Policy

Refund Policy – Adventures

For most Photo Adventures, a deposit of 25% of the total cost of the workshop is required to hold a spot. Please note: Deposits are non-refundable, but you can receive a 50% credit toward a future adventure. Within 45-days, all payments are non-transferable.
For Photo Adventures under $1,000, we may only have the total cost payment option. In this case, 25% is non-refundable.
For national adventures (excluding Alaska), final payments are due one month prior to the start of the workshop.
For international adventures (and Alaska), final payments are due 90-days prior to the start of the workshop. We strongly encourage travel insurance!

White Sands National Park in New Mexico is unique for its stunning and minimal landscapes. The National Park holds 275 square miles of desert, flowing dunes of gypsum sand that are excellent for landscape photographers and those looking to create abstracts. They are a must-photograph for every photographer!

This adventure can be done as a standalone workshop or in conjunction with our Bosque del Apache Photo Adventure.

Dec 12 – 2pm to sunset at White Sands
Dec 13 – All Day at White Sands
Dec 14 – Morning at White Sands. Leave for Albuquerque at 10am. (4-hour drive)
Dec 14 – Late flights home (or leave on Dec 15)

Physical Activity: Low. Minimal hiking on mostly flat, even ground and no difficult climbing

The cost of this trip does not include the cost of lodging, transportation to and from Albuquerque, or meals during the trip.
