Join Westcott Lighting and Hunt’s Photo Education for a brief discussion on lighting followed by a chance to use lighting gear, modifiers, and more with models in this weekday evening photo experience!

Great lighting doesn’t have to mean hauling around a truckload of gear—or draining your bank account. In this class, JC Carey will show you how to take your portraits from flat to fantastic using compact strobes, speed lights, and affordable constant lights. With tools like the Westcott FJ80II and FJ200, you’ll discover the freedom and power of small, portable flashes that pack a serious punch. Add in the Ice Light 3 for cinematic, go-anywhere illumination, or the budget-friendly L120B and U60B LEDs for beautiful continuous light at a price that won’t make your wallet weep—and suddenly you’ve got a toolkit that’s lightweight, versatile, and downright fun.

JC’s teaching blends humor, real-world problem-solving, and clear, simple techniques that make lighting approachable—even if you’ve been afraid to take your flash out of the camera’s hot shoe. You’ll learn how to sculpt light, balance it with ambient, and create images that go way beyond “good enough,” all while proving that great service, great light, and great prices can happily live in the same sentence.

Whether you’re brand new to lighting or just looking to expand your creative options without overloading your camera bag, this class will leave you ready to go from fear to flash—with small lights, smart solutions, and big results.
