Printed Vision: Making a Fine Art Print- Hunt’s Melrose or Online!

The printed image shows our successes and our faults at a much higher level of detail than the digital image. To become better photographers, it helps to understand this by creating the printed image as a final product.

This Printed Vision Session: Making a Fine Art Print
To print fine art or not to print fine art: That is the question. What does it mean to make a fine art print? What photographic papers define fine art? What editing choices should we make to get through the emotions of the print? How do we calculate our editing with our paper choices?

In the first session, we will discuss the topic and elaborate on editing with examples. This will include discussion of exposure, dynamic range and color, but also deeper points, such as noise reduction, image sharpening and grain. In between sessions 1 and 2, attendees will independently process 1-2 images and submit them to the instructor for printing. The instructor will send back a video image review discussing what you did and how to improve your edits for print. The instructor will then print one of the images to be displayed in the Print Review, which will take place both in-person and online, in case you cannot attend live. In the end of each session, you will end up with a print up to 13×19” on Fine Art paper to take home with you. (We print on Moab, Hahnemuhle, and Canson fine art papers.)

Receiving Your Print
After the class, your print can either be mailed to you or picked up at one of our Hunt’s Photo store locations.

Registering and what is needed
After you register for this class, you will receive a confirmation email that will include information about how to access the online class, including an online ID code that you will need to get into the class. Make sure to save this information. We will also send a reminder email about 24 hours prior to the class time with that same information.

We will be recording this class! The video will be available for download about 24-hours after the class for all attendees, so don’t worry about taking unending notes. We will send this link attendees to download and rewatch at any time.
