Workshop Description
Joshua Tree National Park is a vast area (roughly 800,000 acres, larger than the entire state of Rhode Island) in Southern California characterized by rugged rock formations and stark desert landscapes. Named for the region?s twisted and bristled Joshua Trees, the park straddles the Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert. Quiet and surreal at sunrise and sunset, this National Park is one of the most magical places in the United States.
A fascinating variety of plants and animals make their homes in a land sculpted by strong winds and occasional torrents of rain. Dark night skies, a rich cultural history, and surreal geologic features add to the wonder of this vast wilderness in southern California.
Recently, Joshua Tree National Park has been designated as an ?International Dark Sky Park? by the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA). It is an ideal location for photographing the Night Sky and the Milky Way.

Travel information
We recommend flying into Ontario International Airport (ONT) in Southern California. We will be making a bulk pickup of attendees at the airport at noon. If you choose to arrive a day early, you will need to either rent a vehicle or take a taxi/Uber/Lyft to 29 Palms, which is about a 2-hour drive away.
Alternatively, you can fly into Los Angeles Airport (LAX) which will be less expensive, but an hour further and with traffic. If you choose that option, you will need to rent a car.
